Not long after Kevin Ryan had transferred to homicide, they'd had a case where a witness, an elderly woman from County Cork, had taken one look at the young detective and declared, "Well, you've a map o' Ireland written on your face, don't you?"

He'd just smiled and Javi had teased him about it later. As the newbie, Ryan had taken the good natured ribbing in the spirit it was intended. Later, he'd mentioned that his parents had immigrated shortly before the birth of his oldest sister. That had made Javi laugh.
