Prompt: Write a 100-word or a 500-word fic about a HP character (or characters) and one or more of the classical elements: Earth, Water, Air, and Fire. You can relate the character to one of the elements (for example, Dumbledore = Air), or write about something dealing with the elements (for example, the fire in the potions chamber in Sorcerer's Stone/Philosopher's Stone).

Amy Benson was crying.

Loud, pitiful moans wavered in the air around the other orphans. The shabby room they played in, lit by flickering bulbs, was made more dismal by her sobs.

A few of the girls made to soothe her, but she was inconsolable, and soon they left for more productive activities. One of the boys, Eric Whalley, put an arm awkwardly around her, but still her tears found no respite.

The only one who wasn't bothered was young, haughty Tom, sitting icily by the fire, watching as pictures of the family Amy had lost went up in smoke.
