Liam knows something about Xerxes Break that no one else knows. If any of the others cared to watch enough, they could probably figure it out, but they don't, so here we are. And, admittedly, when you get right down to it Liam knows all kinds of things about Xerxes Break that no one else knows. But this — this is his favorite, a little gem he holds particularly close to his heart.
It is possible to surprise, even confuse the white-haired man. You just have to catch him when he's suitably preoccupied.
These chances are more frequent than you might think, but they only last a moment. Liam doesn't take advantage of all of them. If he did Break might realize he's doing it on purpose. But he's always watching, and when he spots one he just can't ignore, he moves in for the kill.
Just now, for instance, they are getting ready to go to Yura's party, which means Break will be wearing gloves instead of huge sleeves that fall over his hands. He only has one glove on. He's getting ready to tug on the other, and he's doing a mental run-down of their objectives at this gathering, speaking aloud for Liam's benefit. This — this right here. This is Break's distracted moment. Liam decides he wants this one.
Before Break can get the remaining glove onto his hand, Liam takes hold of his bare fingers and brings them to his mouth, planting a kiss on the back of his hand and letting his lips linger against the knuckles.
Break reels for a moment, mouth open, cutting himself off in the middle of a word as whatever he was thinking is blasted out of his head. His wide red eye blinks, once, twice. Then he orients himself and the smile slips back on and he makes some comment about where exactly Liam's attentions are just then, and the moment is over. That's alright. Liam caught exactly what he wanted to see.
And so he squeezes Break's fingers and says, "Be careful."
Break squeezes back, gently, and says, "You too." Then he takes his hand back from Liam and slides it into the glove, smiling.
