Inspiration from Written Sparks' freeverse Tie A Little Bow
He holds on tight
&& thrashes on the ground
his eyes squeezing tight
someone is s c r e a m i n g.
A slight reprieve
&& he's gasping painfully
voices shouting
a s k i n g c h a l l e n g i n g
d e m a n d i n g.
There is pressure on his hand
the warmest thing by far
C o m f o r t i n g
T e r r i f y i n g
He returns the pressure
to reassure
&& her shrieks rent the air
as a cruel voice whispers.
He screams
N o N o N o N o
as she jerks next to him
thrashing wildly.
She w h i m p e r s beside him
&& he struggles round to grasp her
shaking in his hands
He holds on tight.
The same question
shrieked this time
but his bravery does not f a l t e r.
He tries to shield her
he can hear her sobs
but she holds on
She tells them nothing.
The pain is upon him
t e r r i b l e
a g o n i s i n g
e x c r u c i a t i n g
He gasps for breath
as the pain recedes
but as her screams fill the air
that pain is u n b e a r a b l e.
He clutches her to him
he can feel the rain on his face
as she shudders beside him once more.
No choice
says a pitiless voice
&& he knows it is over
He holds her tight.
Her screams mingle with his own
it barely registers
it seems there is nothing
but pain.
He is slipping
Faces flash before his eyes
M o t h e r
N e v i l l e
A l i c e
&& darkness falls.
There's a grey shroud
that he can't get past
its f o g g y && uncertain
like a veil.
He's unsure, confused
its bright w h i t e
with greying overtones.
Faces, so many faces
Lights, so many lights
there is a squeeze on his hand
A l i c e
I so hope you liked it.
