"He tells me that love will endure all things.
I know that you are forever my brother.
Here I struggle with you, my brother"
-We Came As Romans "Dreams"
Once upon a time, you were so
young and naïve
and you believed everything that he said
because he was your hero
(and your hero would never lie, right?)
You believed him when he said that
things would never change between you two
he would never leave you alone
he loved you
(but promises are made to be b-r-o-k-e-n.)
x
When you went to school things did change
(too bad it wasn't for the better.)
You became a Slytherin
(which is like a death sentence to him.)
He made new(better) friends
and dust clouded your face.
But, still, he was your hero
and he kept you from harm's reach
(but he never realized he was going to hurt you the most.)
x
Then there was that
terrible
horrible
life-changing
night.
You tried, you really did, to make him stay
"Remember what you said?"
"You promised!"
But you said mattered
and without looking back, he left you
alone
vulnerable
afraid.
And you wanted to hate him
but you couldn't
because sometimes heroes mess up
(and not even big brothers are perfect.)
x
Evidently, little brothers aren't perfect either.
You messed up big time and became a
villian
and yet, you weren't too afraid
(even though you were in so damn deep.)
You still believed that everything would turn out all right
(how foolish)
because your hero would be able to fix all your mistakes
just like before
(too bad you were too blind to see the changing of the tide.)
x
And look at yourself now.
You're gasping for air – counting your last breaths
(five – four – three…)
Your hero is nowhere to be seen.
As you're pulled deeper and deeper into the lake
you wonder
why?
where is he?
(but then it clicks.)
You're going to die
because the hero never rescues the villain.
The lyrics above belong to the band We Came As Romans' song "Dreams." They're a pretty awesome band!
I wrote this back in August and hated it. When I was flipping through my notebook yesterday, I saw it and decided to touch it up a bit and see what would happen. Well, this is the result and I kinda like it.
Fangz mew for betaing! I owe you a million Sirius-es!
