Prompt: Breathing.
My Reason
As Kyouraku Shunsui looked around the Academy grounds he had to remind himself to keep breathing; everywhere he looked were beautiful women, talking, laughing, flirting, and driving him wild…
Rubbing his hands together in glee he reflected that perhaps this plan of his father's to make him a Shinigami wouldn't be all bad; diving right into the middle of a small knot of girls he put on his charming lop-sided smile and winked.
"What a bevy of beautiful ladies assail my eyes this morning," he declaimed dramatically.
A couple of them giggled and blushed but were quickly pulled away by their friends who were glaring at him as though he were dangerous; Shunsui didn't mind, it wouldn't be any fun if he didn't have to chase them.
Straightening his newly pressed Academy uniform he briefly bemoaned the fact he had nothing more beautiful to wear, but he wouldn't let that deter him for long; he was more than sure that his rakish grin and charming personality would more than make up for the drab outfit.
Following one particularly pretty girl round the corner he suddenly stopped dead as he saw the most beautiful sight he had ever seen. It didn't matter to Shunsui that he was looking at another man, he only saw somebody who made his heart stop beating; tall and slender with short white hair that made his grey eyes that much more striking, but it was his smile that made Shunsui's knees go weak.
He had never seen such a smile, so genuine and filled with warmth and yet generously given to all; as Kyoraku Shunsui looked upon Ukitake Jyuushiro for the first time he had to remind himself to breathe.
Two thousand years later not much has changed, Shunsui will still chase any beautiful girl who crosses his path and flirt outrageously with everyone; but his reason for breathing will always be his Jyuushiro.
