A/N: Hi guys, sorry for the delayed release. I'm kind of getting my life together and trying to figure out my future which I have also put on hold for a long time. Anyways, enough about me and more about Yellow! I'm still trying to figure out the plot for this story lol. To compensate, I will be introducing two characters that will very much affect Yellow in future chapters. If you like Grantedshipping, well you may like this chapter. Just keep in mind that this is still a Feelingshipping fic.
Here's to Yellow and the the other PokeSpe characters.
You may have already guessed what the results were.
In the end we didn't manage much. It was ultimately a disaster.
I couldn't charm anyone even if you covered my eyes with hypnotic glasses and the same could be said about the other girls.
With the exception of Blue of course.
Now that the trip is finally coming to a close, it's been decided that we would send the night away with a big blast on the beach in relevance to our poor attempts.
Blue, being the only girl in college at the moment, knows quite a handful of people outside our circle. We met a few of them on the beach when Sapphire nearly smashed a wooden stick into his head thinking it was a watermelon….Yes, we were playing that game and somehow got distracted and forgot to instruct Sapphire until she nearly bludgeoned the poor guy into the sandy earth. As an apology, we invited him and his friends to form a small gathering.
Needless to say, Blue was definitely pushing it saying "We should get to know more people," wink wink.
And now here we are on the final night of our gathering, a small party around a bonfire and dispersed into pairs. If I said I was nervous, that would be the understatement of the century. How many cups of juice have I spilled on x number of guys? It seems I'm just not very comfortable in this kind of environment.
I feel very insecure around them especially since they were older and a few of them were grad students. I'm up to making connections, but I have this crawling feeling underneath my skin that Blue is watching with owl like eyes, waiting to make a move should I give her a chance. It's impossible to predict what Blue may be thinking.
"I'm sorry," I smile gently at the guy before me. His name is Matsuba and he's one of the most mysterious person I've ever met. He's very kind and polite, not to mention sophisticated and accomplished. When you combine that with his gorgeous looks, it's hard not to be nervous. Not to mention he's single and 24.
I admit to being entranced by him, but more than just attraction I felt a familiarity. Oddly, he is one of the few that I don't feel too uncomfortable around. It's like we share a strange connection, almost on a telepathic level, which is why I know he isn't offended when I excuse myself from the party. It's like he understood my dilemma without me needing a thought out reason. Strange I know, but maybe I really have found a kin of sorts.
When I'm by myself on the far side of the beach, I relax and take in the surrounding and the smells. It's salty from the cold mist and a bit smokey because of the drifting fire in the breeze. The sea is glistening under a full moon and the waves are rising higher. I step away before I'm pulled in and watch as my footsteps disintegrate.
"I'm not afraid," I whisper. It's dark and cold and the water is deep enough to drag me away, but I won't allow it. There's no reason to be afraid, I learned that so clearly within these last couple of days. I know it isn't safe to be alone, but I just had to test it, to test myself.
This time I dip my right foot in before entering with my right foot in. Soon I'm submerged to my calves. I don't stray any further because I know the value of a life worth living.
Not long after, my feet start feeling numb and I try to remove myself from the water. I'm in a bit too deep and when I finally pull myself out I fall backwards landing on my butt.
A wet butt is not a fun butt.
I hear laughter just a few feet behind me.
"Do you need a hand?" I turn to the voice as it approaches me. I shake my head and stand, patting off the wet sand and grimace.
He has his hand out, but I don't take it. "I'm covered in sand, sorry." I cringe at the thought of smearing his hand with from my sandy butt.
He nods.
"I'm Wataru Lancereia. You?" I look up and examine his features. It's too hard to tell what color his eye and hair color are, but I'd say gold for the eyes and a reddish brown for the hair. His hair is swept back, but a stubborn bang shadows his face.
Oh look at that, another handsome man to grace the night. What wonderful luck you have Yellow! If only you could do something about your social skills.
I push the rest of my thoughts to the back of my mind and decide to just enjoy the night and make good memories and possibly new friends, albeit they were a lot more mature.
"I'm Yellow Oak." I greet politely. "Please don't tell anyone what you just saw."
I blush slightly in embarrassment and he laughs lightly.
"Sure. It'll be a secret between us, but..." he trails off. He takes off his jacket and places it around my shoulders. "If you don't want it getting out, we should cover up the evidence."
I blush even harder.
"Oh! Thanks, umm I don't know how I could forget about that. The girls will never let me live it down if they saw this."
He nods. We walk back in silence with me in front and him following behind. I guess he must have known that people would talk if we showed up together. Maybe he was being considerate?
Not that it would matter.
"Whose sweater is that?" asks Crystal. Platina also glances up to analyze my getup.
"It's definitely male considering the size and this texture says that he is definitely sophisticated."
"You got all that from a sweater?"
"It's mine," interrupts Wataru before I have a chance to explain. "I took a walk and met her unexpectedly by the coast. It's cold near the ocean so I gave her my sweater. I would never forgive myself if I left a lady in the cold."
Crystal's mouth falls open and Platina has this questioning look. I want to dig myself a grave.
Before they can fire questions at me, I'm saved by a few voices announcing the sending off of fireworks.
In a matter of seconds, everything is forgotten and we all head towards the shore. The fireworks light up the night and I stare in awe. The pretty colors are astounding I decide that tonight feels magical.
"I'm so glad I'm here right now," I say to no one but myself as the lights continue to shower the sky.
"May I take this spot?" I look left to see Wataru and nod. He hands me a bottle of water and I take it gratefully.
I tug at the jacket around my shoulders to keep it from falling, remembering what he did for me and feel my face heat up again. "Thanks Wataru, I owe you for this and the water."
He only shakes his head. "It was a sweet encounter. If we owe anyone, it would be fate or we would never have met like we did."
"W-wwhatt?" and I'm at a lost for words. He's laughing again and it's hard not to be captivated by his voice. Now that we're near a source of light, I see that I'm right. He really is good looking.
"Sorry, I just wanted to tease you a bit. I heard about you from Blue and wanted to see for myself just how much of it was true."
I look at him aghast. "What did she say about me?" I struggle to look at him, but when I do, I see a light smile.
"If I remember it all...then 'she's adorable like a doll, has the cutest reactions, and is easily flustered." I pale slightly. I know it's a compliment, but it's really hard to hear it from another person's mouth.
"She didn't tell me you that your hair is a precious yellow and you have unforgettable eyes. I'm glad I got to see it for myself."
Wait.
Wait.
What?
"Haha. You really are fun to tease." I feel myself pouting, not really enjoying the topic. "On a serious note, she told me you come from Viridian forest and that you were adopted by the Oaks."
My eyes widen. "Oh."
"My hometown is actually Viridian City as well, although I haven't been there in years. I moved around a lot back then, but when I heard about the fire I came back to see it burned. I can't forget how devastated I felt when I saw it."
"I...I was too young to really understand what happened back then. I don't think I was able to fully comprehend the tragedy. I'm sorry, I wish I could say I understand, but I would be a fool to compare my feelings to yours."
"No, I'm sorry for bringing up something so painful. Also, there's no reason to compare each others pain. There's no undermining the things we've lost."
I smile at him gratefully and we both turn our attention back towards the sky. I could feel it in him too. There's a sense of familiarity different from when I encountered Matsuba. He's like another kin in my sorrow, but there's something else that connects between us that I just can't make out.
"Then here's to our fated meeting." I say, "Let's never forget all the lives we meet and the memories we make."
"Cheers."
It remains quiet as we watch the rest of the fireworks light up. It isn't until its nearly over that Wataru speaks up.
"I do owe you an apology though."
"And that would be because?" I question.
We don't bother to turn our heads, our focus on the last of the light display, yet for some reason his voice is oddly close.
"I'm sorry that I didn't whisk you away earlier. It could have been our little secret."
End of Chapter.
A/N: I think it's very important to note few things I didn't earlier.
Matsuba is the japanese name for Morty, the ghost type gym leader from Ecruteak City.
Wataru is Lance, Indigo Plateau Champion from Generation I and II.
I just really love Matsuba's name 3
and to keep it consistent, I decided to use Wataru instead of Lance. I did however give them a last name using their english counterpart.
