If You Go Where I Can't Follow—Part 2: Peter

"I can't protect you anymore. Not with this."

"I understand."

"Do you? Because this is something where if you take the wrong step, you're in for it."

"Peter—"

"Did you do it?"

"What they're accusing me of?"

"Neal."

"Yeah, I did it."

"Damnit."

Then silence. An awkward silence. A long silence.

"I can't protect you."

"I know."

"They'll take you in."

"I know."

"Neal, you'll go back to prison."

"If they can prove it."

"You just confessed to me."

"Peter…you—"

"You crossed the line, Neal."

The handcuffs came out.

"I'm sorry."

They had said it at the same time.

"I wish—"

Again, they spoke together, but stopped and looked at each other.

Then Peter spoke softly.

"I wish I could protect you, but I just can't."
