A/N: For the Sirius and Remus challenge. For the Lovely Not Edward Cullen. My prompts were Veritaserum and the Shrieking Shack. I actually like this. I guess they are a little OOC but I am ok with that :) Enjoy
The World Keeps Spinning
Sirius and Remus lay on a blanket on the floor of the shrieking shack one warm summer's night. Sirius had his head on Remus' chest as they lay quietly as if not to ruin a perfect moment.
"Moony?"
Remus was playing with Sirius' hair softly and listening to the slight intakes of breath he took and was slightly startled by the shift in the silence but not unhappy.
"Yes, my love?" Remus asked.
"Will you always have my back?" he asked.
"Does it come with the front?"
"I am not kidding around," Sirius' said a slight anger to his tone.
"Of course I will always have your back. Why do you ask?"
"You are like a security blanket," he said softly and Remus brought his eyebrows together in thought and confusion by what he was saying.
"I can't tell anyone about you yet, but I know you are always there when I need you," he whispered softly. Remus sat up startling Sirius and brought his face to look at his.
"And I will always be there for you," he said softly bringing Sirius closer for one of their many magical kisses just as the sun peaked it's head over the horizon to ruin their perfect night.
…...
"Do you know where Sirius Black is?" the Auror asked Remus who was sitting casually across the table his hands placed perfectly over his lap.
"Sirius? No," Remus said bluntly.
"Do you have any information on his whereabouts?" the Auror asked, clearly angry at the lack of information he was getting.
"Well that is two questions at once. But because I am a good man I will answer both. I have no information and I do not know his whereabouts," Remus said smartly. The Auror nearly went purple in the face when another Auror came into the room with a tray of drinks.
"How about some tea?" she asked placing the cup in front of Remus. Remus smiled and looked up at the female Auror.
"You can give me Veritaserum, but I will tell you the same thing. I have not seen Sirius since the day he killed Peter and I have no desire to see him now," he said standing up. "Now if you are all done with the silly questions, I have someone who is waiting for me at home," he said casually. The Aurors, who were angry and annoyed, had no choice but to let him leave. Remus gave them a nod and walked out without another word.
…...
Remus was wondering Grimald Place and he stopped between the odd numbered houses of eleven and thirteen. The house of number twelve appeared as if by magic and he went into the house without another word.
"Remus?" Sirius asked, his tone soft and pleading as if asking if he needed to run again. Remus placed his coat on the hook and took Sirius in his arms.
"I told you I would always have your back," he said kissing Sirius softly.
…...
Remus stood in the Shrieking shack, and couldn't help but notices the resemblance it had to him now. It was broken, old, shattered and alone. It was funny to think that the house built for him at such a young age would follow his life nearly perfectly.
Remus looked around the room, remembering all the good times he had with his lover. The sad times to. But mostly he thought of how this house meant nothing to him any more. It felt almost like a hazy memory you wished to black out. And maybe that was what he wished. Not because he didn't love Sirius but because he needed to move on, start a family.
He looked out of the broken window, his whole world broken and beyond repair. But a smart man like Remus could come back from this couldn't he? All he needed was a distraction.
Like a woman. Perhaps one that had been begging after him for quite some time. Now that would be a challenge for Remus Lupin indeed.
