Disclaimer: I don't own Kids Next Door. Mr. Warburton does.
It was winter, and Christmas was tomorrow, and the twelve years olds in Sector W were freezing. Well, Sonya was freezing. And trapped. For there was too much snow to get home. But Sonya was not the only one. Lee had stayed too, but his was by choice. His parents had gone on a trip to Florida for the holidays, and left Lee with his aunt, who lived across town. So Lee stayed in the tree house.
But still, Sonya was freezing. The girl had herself buried in ten blankets and many, many pillows. But she was still cold.
She heard on her door, and said, 'Come in!'
It was Lee. He came over and sat on her bed. Or at least he tried to. He kept falling off with all the pillows on it. He settled for standing next to her. He was dressed in his usual attire, except that his shorts were now jeans, but he still wore his signature hat.
"Are you cold?" Sonya asked him. Lee couldn't see that he was shaking, and wanted to appear tough. So his answer was,
"No. But you are." She looked at him, and told him to get in next to her, for she had taken almost every blanket in the tree house. It was only fair that he be warm, even if she couldn't be.
Lee slid in next to her, and Sonya was wearing her warmest pajamas. He could tell she was shaking and touched her arm to make her stop. He slid his signature hat off his head, and placed it warmly on hers.
"Better?" He asked her. She smiled.
"Thanks, Lee." It was then that they noticed how close they were to each other. Shoulders basically touching. Sonya was still shivering lightly, so Lee put one hand around Sonya and pulled her closer to him.
"Body heat." He mumbled. She just smiled and closed her eyes. She shifted into him, and rested her head on his shoulder. They both laid there silently, enjoying the peace and quiet of the night. Sonya fell asleep some time later. But Lee was awake long after she had went to sleep.
He stared at her, cuddled up in his arms. How she looked so calm and peaceful as she slept. He looked at the cap on her head, and thought it looked cute on her. He decided that he would give it her one day. He fell asleep about an hour later.
Lee woke up to the sound of other kids outside, playing with their brand new toys. He looked at the girl in his arms, who now had a hand over his stomach and whose face she had on his laying on his neck. She had heard the children too, and stirred. Her bright blue eyes stared at his brown ones, and they stayed there for what seemed like hours, before Sonya took the hat off her head, and put it back onto his. He tried to tell her to keep it. But she told him that it was his, and that she was going to make hot chocolate. As she tried to get out of bed, she tripped and started to fall.
Lee noticed and he caught her before she fell.
With one hand around her back, and one hand grasping hers, Sonya smiled. She pushed Lee's hat up a bit and looked into his eyes. She leaned in and kissed him. He smiled and said,
"Come on, Sonya, let's make some hot chocolate."
Sonya knew he would always catch her, just like she knew he would always wear that hat. It was a fact, just like the fact that she was in love with him.
Well, I thought that was pretty cute. And I just had to write a Sonya/Lee one-shot because there are so few out there. I hope you like the story! : )
