Chapter 2

"He's only fifteen."

"So what? He's old enough! I had my first beer with my old man when I was 12!" boasted Havoc.

Hawkeye tried to give Havoc the death stare, but Jean could care less. Mustang's men had an unofficial rule. That once a year, each of them can do something without Lieutenant Hawkeye having a say in it. Jean was using his moment for this. "Lieutenant, I am going to get the Fullmetal Alchemist drunk tonight, and I am using my free pass for this."

"I don't think the rules apply when you're breaking the law."

"He may be underage, but the law also says he can drink under the supervision of a parent or guardian!"

"Of which you are neither." Riza pointed out with her index finger against Havoc's chest.

"He is a ward of the state, and since I am an officer of the state, that pretty much means I fit the bill!"

Hawkeye rolled her eyes at his complete stupidity. She could have argued with him all day about how completely wrong he is about the law, but it seemed pointless. He made up his mind, and she trusts him to some extent. She threw her hands in the air in defeat, and Havoc did a victory fist pump.

Hawkeye sat back down at her desk, grumbling to herself and glaring at the back of Jean's head. She hasn't lost this fight yet. She came to the conclusion that the only way she could sleep easily tonight would be if she followed Havoc and Ed around to make sure they don't do anything stupid. She may have been given the free pass for now, but she'll be damned if she's filling out an incident report tomorrow over their misconduct. Satisfied with her decision, she grabbed her gun out of her desk and field stripped it to clean.

Ed made his way back to his dorm from the payphone in the lobby. He had just spoken to Alphonse who was in Resembool for the 2nd week in a row. He wanted to go with him, but NOOO. He just HAD to be given a ton of reports to file. He knew that it was his own damn fault for procrastinating and leaving him 2 weeks before the deadline. Really, the only reason he was worried about the deadline was because of Lieutenant Hawkeye's threats. He wasn't about to get on her shit-list again. She is not a force to be reckoned with.

He slammed his door shut and plopped back down at his desk. He stared down at the paperwork in front of him hoping he could intimidate it into filling itself out.

It didn't work.

He went deep into thought, trying desperately to re-arrange his schedule so he DIDN'T have to do this right now. He came to the conclusion that he really had nothing better to do. He already ate, he had no pending leads on the philosopher's stone, and Al was out of town. Ed decided that the best course of action was to pick up the damn pen and just get it over with.

BAM-BAM-BAM

Ed gritted his teeth. He vowed to himself that if it was another god-damn Jehovah 's Witness, he was gonna lose it. He stomped his way over the door and threw it open.

"WHAT?-Oh, it's you."

"Hey chief? Expecting someone else?" Havoc grinned with his hands behind his back.

"No, just wondering who was bothering me…what are you holding?"

"Nothin"

Ed rolled his eyes and leaned against the frame of the door. "Just tell me. I hate surprises."

"Booze." Jean said casually.

"Uh-huh. What is it really?" Jean brought a bottle of rum from behind him and held it out as if saying, "ta-da!"

Ed's eyes opened wide. "It IS booze."

"YEAH! LET'S GO!" Jean said, almost shouting. Ed was very confused indeed. Certainly the bottle wasn't for him, so what on EARTH was Havoc talking about? "Go where?"

"To my place, c'mon! Let's get shitty!" Havoc encouraged.

So it was for him.

"uh…thanks, but I got a lot of work to do-"

Havoc interrupted him with a raspberry. Ed was astonished. He wasn't sure if he was losing his mind, or if his comrade actually just stuck his tongue out and blew a raspberry. Ed grabbed his binder off the desk and tried to explain again.

"Seriously, I got hours of work to-"

"Fuck your work" Havoc said plainly before simply flipping the binder out of Ed's hand.

Ed's eyes widened once again. Both men stood in silence. Paper gently falling to the floor. Ed considered his options. He could slam the door in Havoc's face, pick up the papers, organize them, and then work the rest of the night…or…..

"Alright, let's go." Ed said while grabbing his jacket.

"YESSSSSSS!" Havoc hissed. They walked down the stairs and out the front door to Jean's car. He gunned it and tore down the street towards his apartment. Following far behind, was Riza's convertible.
