"And just like that my Gyrados used hydro pump, his most powerful attack, on my cousin's new Charizard!" With that Evelyn let out a chiming laugh that echoed with Amorah's. Since their meeting in Viridian forest, Amorah had enjoyed the stories that Evelyn had to share; both girls spending most of their long walk erupting with laughter. Umbreon looked up toward his trainer and inwardly beamed upon seeing how happy she looked, just by being in the presence of this other person. He felt mighty proud that he was here to witness firsthand how happy Amorah truly could be.
"Did your cousin really think his Charizard could win against a strong water type?" Amorah asked as she wiped away a stray laughter induced tear from her blue eyes.
Evelyn breathed in with a smile. "That dope, his Charizard had just evolved that day and no more than five minutes after he demanded a battle. He boasted, "Oh my Charizard is the strongest one here now and you don't stand a chance." Evelyn changed her voice to a higher tone as she mimicked her cousin and crossed her eyes, forcing a new wave of laughter to erupt from the two.
"How old was he?" Amorah asked between giggles.
Evelyn snorted. "Twenty – six."
Just by that answer the two girls laughed the hardest they both have that afternoon, leaning upon one another to stop each other from leaning to the ground as they both held their stomachs. Umbreon shook his head that sight and slowed his gait and waited for the two girls to catch up to him, both had falling back with their outburst of laughter.
Evelyn sighed at the memory of her cousin and patted her reddening face before bumping Amorah with her shoulder. "What about you, Amorah? I've told you most of my silly and obviously hilarious adventures, what's something outrageous you have done?"
By that question Amorah stopped her walking and her heart leaped into her throat. Umbreon, upon hearing what the new girl had asked stopped as well, throwing his head over his shoulder to stare at his trainer with a 'stuck in the headlights' look. Something outrageous? Amorah bit her lip and darted her eyes away from Evelyn. What should she say? She never did anything silly or fun that she could remember at the moment.
"I – um uh." She stammered and looked into the green eyes of her new and only friend who stared at her with a raised eyebrow. Quickly she wracked her brain from something, anything that she could remember that she could share with Evelyn but in truth, there was nothing that Amorah could share about herself that wasn't sad or traumatizing.
"You know, you don't have to say anything if you don't want to, Amorah. It's alright." Evelyn said softly upon seeing her new friend look so forlorn and frightened. It made the red head wonder what exactly Amorah was thinking about.
"N – No it's okay I was just trying to think of a good one." Amorah laughed softly as she finally picked a memory to stretch.
"When I was younger I used to always watch my parent train in the front yard, working with their Pokémon and strengthening them was always their favorite thing to do." Amorah was happy to see that Evelyn was intrigued in her story and soon the girls began walk once more.
"Well one day after my mom and dad were finishing up their training, my mom called me over and stood me next to her Espeon. She patted my shoulder and said "Now you try. Try and beat your father." She stood off to the side and watched as I, an eight year old, stood next to her Pokemon and faced my father." Amorah smiled at the false memory and saw that Evelyn was smiling happily at the story and nodded for her to continue however, Umbreown walked stiffly and eyed his trainer sadly.
"So my mother stood by myside and told me what command to use with her Espeon at she battled against my father's Manectric. The battle went on for quite a while, my mother patiently coaching me in what to say and how to command the Pokémon I fought alongside with but my father's Manectric however, was growing bored with the slow paced battle."
"Oh that doesn't sound too good." Evelyn whistled as she put an image to Amorah's story and could almost tell how it would end.
Amorah bit her lip and nodded. "Well Manectric was growing bored, he was used to fast paced battles and one hit KO's that he was growing agitated and you could tell throughout the battle. So with my mother coaching me and my father being supportive of the slow battle to give me a little experience, Manectric decided that he did not want to battle forever and against my father's orders used his strongest attack and sent it spiraling toward my mother and I."
"Are you serious?" Evelyn gasped and held her fingers to her chin in shock. "He completely disobeyed your father's training? That Pokémon went AWOL. What happened next?"
Amorah smirked. "It all happened in slow motion in my perspective. I saw that huge Thunder attack heading straight for me and my mother and the only thought that I had at that exact moment my just my mom."
"I grabbed my mom by her arm and flung her away from me and commanded her Espeon to use her Reflect attack which once hit by the Thunder It bounced back toward my father of all people." A snicker and then a giggle fell past Amorah lips and soon a jubilant laugh filled the air by the two girls.
"It didn't hit my father full force thank Arceus but it hit him pretty good and Manectric just stood there in shock when he saw his trainer fall to the ground in a burnt heap so when he wasn't looking, I commanded Espeon to use her Psybeam attack against Manectric and then used a quick attack and I ultimately won the battle. I remember stomping my foot and yelling at Manectric for being a cheater and I threw my shoe at him. That Pokémon has been terrified by me ever since." The two girls both laughed but one not as happily as the other.
Amorah's laughter was strained as the real memory floated through her mind. She did stand by her mother that part was true but the circumstances were completely different. She was standing next her mom while she and her father battled happily in the front yard, a then four year old Amorah cheering for Espeon as she battled against Manectric who was always known for being brash.
All she remembered was that she was cheering for mother who ultimately won the battle, Amorah jumping and cheering with giggles as she hugged her mother who laughing just the same. It was then she heard that loud crackling of static and her father shouting, looking up just in time to see a large electric attack flying toward them and her mother shoving her away before commanding Espeon to Reflect the attack.
It was after that moment her mother had yelled and screamed at her father for being so carless and for Manectric for being so brash and cruel. She had Espeon unleash Psybeam after Psybeam upon Manectric, ultimately making the Pokémon deathly afraid of the woman and her Pokémon.
Even after that scary ordeal, she still left.
"Wow that must have been crazy. How did your father react?" Evelyn's voice pulled Amorah from her thoughts and the latte smiled toward the red haired girl.
"He was not happy, believe me but for like a month whenever he brought back treats for his team Manectric never got anything so I'm sure he had it through his head to be more careful with his thunder attacks."
"Wow that's insane." Evelyn breathed and looked toward her friend, noticing something that she at first doubted but now didn't any longer. She didn't know Amoarh well, only for the few hours they spent walking through Viridian Forest but she could see that she was hiding something. How could a sixteen year old not know what a Pokedex was? She also noticed that her Umbreon was older upon first meeting. Now as she told her this 'story' she couldn't help but think that something wasn't right with it.
As kind as she may be, there is something she is hiding and from the looks of it, it must be big. Evelyn knew she could be extremely wrong with her assumptions, not seeing the whole picture that Amorah presented but still she wondered; who exactly is this girl?
Shaking her head and offering a smile, she looked ahead and finally saw what they were looking for. "Amorah look, there the exit to the forest! Pewter is on the other side and I'm so hungry!" Grasping Amorahs hand, the two girls ran to the forest exit with Umbreon and were now finally onto their next adventure in Pewter City.
