Blood. Everywhere there was blood. Why couldn't they just do as he asked? He tried so hard to make things right, make Russia big and strong like all the other nations. He just wanted them to work and look what they made him do. Look who they made him kill. Look what they made him break. He just wanted the people of St. Petersburg to be happy.

Now the people of St. Petersburg were dead.

Ivan sat in a growing pool of blood, holding a dying child of one of the workers as her blood stained the fur of the coat he wore. He was the only living soul in the area surrounding Narva Gate, where hundreds of protesters had been gathered hours before. Hundreds of protesters and their families. Ivan started singing a lullaby to the little corpse he was rocking, either unaware or uncaring that the child had stopped living.

"Bayu-bayushki-bayu, [Baby, baby, rock-a-bye]

Ne lozhisya na krayu. [On the edge you mustn't lie]

Pridyot serenkiy volchok, [Or the little grey wolf will come]

On ukhvatit za bochok [And will nip you on the tum,]

Ivan didn't know how long he sat there, in that sea of blood and bodies. Ivan didn't know how many were dead. Later, the czar would tell him only ninety-five died; but Ivan had seen the blood. There was too much blood for only ninety-five people. There was too much blood for two hundred people. He looked down at the child he was rocking, and the little girl stared back at him with eyes that no longer saw. Ivan smiled. She was such a pretty girl. Such long, beautiful blonde hair. She was sure to find a good husband when she grew up.

"Bayu-bayushki-bayu,

I used a traditional Russian lullaby, and it translates to "and will nip you on the tummy/stomache" but tum rhymed so i used that.
