My second one-shot! Sorry to all Operation: F.L.I.P.S.I.D.E. readers (if there are any), but I'm stuck. I have part of the chapter written though.
Edit: For those of you who enjoyed this one-shot, you might like to read it's companion, Operation: P.O.W.E.R.F.U.L. It explains what happens after this, and I might write a sequel for it.

"C'mon, Abigail, it's time for lunch!" Abby cringed at her full name. Abby had never cared for Valerie, but she never seemed to break her stubborn habit, even though Abby had explained she preferred Abby many times. None the less, Abby rose, scooping her books in her arms. While the other students chatted, Abby's head lolled to the side in thought.
Raven hair flashed itself in Abby's direction.
Kuki, Abby realized.
It seemed that nobody understood Kuki Sanban.
The 12-year-old sat alone at lunch, mostly staring at her plate.
Abby found this strange. Kuki was a peppy girl who was nice to everyone. Kuki skipped down the hallways every morning in her sweater and tights, helping anyone who's schools supplies may have tumbled to the ground.
Abby knew she had friends. She had seen Kuki talking to a blonde girl and an Asian boy after school. They waited for her every day, smiling and chatting with her as she unhooked her bicycle from the rack. Even though she wasn't a whole lot older than him, they seemed recognize her with respect.
And despite all of this, nobody showed any notion of sitting with her.
Abby scanned the cafeteria to see if anyone else saw the strange girl. Not catching anyone's eye, Abby returned to her meal and joined the conversation.
Abby had repeated her actions many times.
But today was different.
Today, Abby caught the eye of a boy, for two seconds. Two seconds that seemed like an entire⦠childhood.
"Why don't you sit with her?" Abby's eyes seemed to ask. He clenched the table.
"Why don't you?" emerald eyes countered.
"It looks like she'd prefer you," Abby tried to confer. The boy turned away to face the Japanese child. At his gaze her eyes widened and she tried to appear completely interested in her lunchbox, filled with elaborate foods ("Sushi, maybe," Abby later stated).
Abby expected lunchtime to return to its usual, lifeless state, but then the boy stood up and approached Kuki's table.
Silence fell upon the cafeteria. Kuki looked up, her violet eyes glistening in pure interest.
"Hi," the blonde sat his tray down, "Mah name's Wally. Do you mind if Ah sit here?" Kuki shook her head eagerly, scooting over to indicate where she wanted him to sit.
And then something stranger happened.
More teens rose from their tables, people Abby had never even known to give Kuki a second glance.
"I'm Rachel." A blonde girl took to Kuki's other side.
"Hi, I'm Hoagie." The goggled boy sat across from the other three.
"Name's Patton." The black-haired boy sat on the opposite side of Hoagie's bench.
"My name is Fanny- stop laughing, Hoagie!" An Irish girl slapped Hoagie, sliding in between the two boys.
"Nigel." Sunglasses eyed the final seat next to Wally as they took their place in the order.
Abby suddenly picked up her tray and walked across the cafeteria.
"I'm Abby."
Kuki's eyes glowed at the sight of her new tablemates, radiating knowledge that didn't seem possible for someone of her age as she murmured a barely audible, "I know."
