While they can't deny that they're something, it's nearly impossible for Jade to put her finger on what exactly she and Cat are. They're lying in Jade's bed after fooling around and something unfamilar twists deep inside of Jade's chest and it really, really almost hurts.

"We could do this," Cat says, her sweet smell encircling Jade, "Like, for real. We could write our anniversary all over our notebooks and everything." She's smiling and there's a look in her eyes that Jade pointedly tries not to recognize.

Jade, heartless and cruel Jade, doesn't feel her heart break as she says, "Cat, that's not really a good idea..."

"Oh," Cat says, trying her best not to look discouraged, "You're right," She schools her face into a knowledgeable expression and says, "You're very right."

It kills Jade, espicially when she sees Cat at school the next day and she looks terribly depressed. Well, she looks a bubbly as ever but Jade can see straight through the girl. She's smiling and joking around but her gaze never strays toward Jade and when she thinks no one's looking she lets face face fall into a pensive and sad expression.

So after the hellacious and long Wednesday she drives over to Cat's and knocks on her door. James answers without pants and gives Jade a look before calling Cat to the door.

She bounces to the door with a smile and says, "Jade! I didn't know you were coming over!" She checks her phone, "Did you text me or something?"

Scratching the back of her head Jade says, "I wanna do this."

Cat gives her a confused look, "Do what?" She leans against the doorframe and Jade has to look away from the curve of her hips to reply.

"You know, this. Writing our anniversary on our notebooks and that crap. But I wanna do it right."

Giving her the closest thing Cat can manage to a guarded look, the younger girl says, "Really?"

With an exasperated sigh Jade nearly shouts, "Yes, really! So just be ready at, like, six on Friday and we'll go to a movie and crap."

Jade had never done anything like this with Beck, never really gone beyond making out in his RV, car, and anywhere else they wouldn't get arrested. Jade had never gone on an actual date, either so she had no clue what to wear. She settled on the shortest skirt she had and the tighest tank top she had and she went to pick up Cat and couldn't breathe.

The redhead was wearing, well, next to nothing and if Jade thought she had put on her sexiest getup, Cat definately had her beat.

"We should, uh, go." Jade said when she caught her breath. She opened the car door for Cat and let her listen to her favorite radio station in the car but forced her to watch a horror movie with her.

"I'm scared," Cat leaned over and whispered during the opening credits. Jade leaned over, intending to pretend to be nice and peck her on the cheek, but Cat catches her lips and doesn't let them go until the lights are coming back up and the kid sweeping up the theater clears his throat at them.

Jade drives Cat home and walks her to her door and she catches on right away when Cat starts pouting. "What?" Jade asks, flat but without venom in her voice.

"I can't decide if I want you to take me out for ice cream or invite you inside." She says simply.

Both of those options are pretty agreeable with Jade so she just puts her arm around Cat's shoulders and says, "Well, we can start with ice cream. We've got plenty of time if we're doing this right,"

A/N: so, instead of doing any of the other writing tasks i've taken on, i wrote this. it's pretty darn short and my first story written for victorious, but i'm pleased enough with the outcome. tell me what you think?
