A/N: The ending made me sad, even though my player came back at the end I was still feeling bad for the player's partner so even though I'm not finished with Explorers of Sky I know for sure that it will have the same ending…I guess.

Title: The Future Fades

Summary: As Mizuki and Ryuu head out of Temporal Tower Mizuki notices that her time with Ryuu is up and that their last adventure stops here.

Pairings: Player/Partner

"Mizuki…let's hurry before we're too late," muttered the proud Rilou as he limped quickly down Temporal Tower's road trying in vain to not collapse from sheer exhaustion, pain, and hunger.

Mizuki the amnesic Vulpix could only grit her teeth and follow dutifully behind her injured friend wanting so much to use that oran berry on him but resisting because Ryuu was proud and stubborn. He hated any kind of weakness and bore pain with a defiance that surprised Mizuki whose strong will was suppose to outmatch his own.

It was the defiance that helped defeat Prima Dialga and if it hadn't been for his first Aura Sphere…things probably would have gone down the drain and the world would have been done for.

The tiny team succeeded in knocking the ancient pokemon back to his senses and with lighter hearts they both agreed to head back to the Guild together and tell everyone what had just transpired up at Temporal Tower.

It had been the wish of Dialga who had begun to immediately bring the world back to order including the past and future.

Mizuki could only hope that Grovyle was alright…and that she would spend just a few more minutes with Ryuu before finally disappearing.

She wanted to tell him about what Dusknoir had said but her tongue held the words back in. She could vanish in the blink of an eye and Ryuu wouldn't even notice.

'My body…feels heavy,' she thought as the heaviness started to slowly sink in her bones. 'What's wrong…? Why am I struggling to move…?' Every step that she took proved to become a hard task to handle.

'It's like…my legs are weighed down…'

Mizuki trudged on and ignored the heaviness but the more she brushed it aside the stronger it came back. 'Maybe…now that we changed the future…my own disappearance…is drawing near…'

"Tremors!" Ryuu shouted as the ground shook almost violently making him almost lose his footing and stumble. Mizuki smiled softly as the tremors made the Rilou hiss with irritation and a comical fear that only she alone knew about.

Ryuu had always been easy to read.

When the tremors faded away to a mere whisper Ryuu sighed with relief and turned to smirk at her. "Scared Mizuki? It's settled down…I guess things are still getting back to normal," he said rubbing his sore shoulder and walking forward again.

"C'mon Mizuki."

Nodding softly the Vulpix took a step forward…only to realize that small orbs of light appeared and floated around her.

It was time.

"No…let me stay to tell him please," she begged softly as the lights multiplied drastically.

"Hey Mizuki!" called the Rilou as he turned around to yell at her to hurry up. But his serious gaze morphed into that of confusion as he witnessed the lights around his best friend's body.

"Hey Mizuki…what is this? What's going on?" he asked staring hard at the lights in both curiousity and fear.

Resisting the urge to curse Arceus for Ryuu's ignorance to what was happening to her Mizuki opened her mouth…and spoke.

Not a whisper or a mutter.

She spoke.

"…Sorry, Ryuu. I kept this to myself for a long time," she said with no conviction and Ryuu gasped as more lights appeared around her.

"It looks like…I have to say good-bye…"
