Embarrassing Moments

"And so we were just sitting there and Kao-chan here walked towards us with the tray of coffees and didn't see the wet tablecloth on the floor. He slipped and all our top-quality, once-in-a-lifetime-chance-to-drink-it coffee was just gone!" Hikaru bursts into peals of laughter.

The fangirls crowded around the table laughed along too, trying their best to please their 'Hikaru-kun'. On the other hand, the Kaoru's fangirls, especially Odin the short black-haired one, tried to keep their smiles on clenched fists to themselves.

'How dare he mock my Kao-chan?' thought Odin.

Kaoru himself felt his cheeks burn with embarrassment. Suddenly he could not stand it anymore. "Excuse me, I need to go somewhere," he mumbled quickly and dashed off.

In the safety of the classroom, Kaoru let himself go. The tears poured down his pale smooth cheeks like a waterfall. That coffee incident was one of his most embarrassing moments and everyone present that day swore to secrecy. And here he was, baring it all out to those squealing girls so he can increase his fame.

'My feelings don't mean much to hi, do they?' he thought, tears pouring faster and more furiously, 'After all I've done for him, this is what I get?'

"Kaoru? You in here?" Hikaru popped his head and his soulful eyes fell on his brother.

His heart sank as he took in the wet tear-stained face.

Hikaru walked in, closing the door behind, and knelt on one knee next to his twin. "What are you doing here?"

Kaoru turned his head away and mumbled.

Hikaru took his hands and said, "I was worried. I knew you didn't have anywhere to go and nothing good happens when you mumble."

"Wow, gee, sorry I made you leave your entourage in the cafeteria. I thought you would stay and entertain them with another story." Sarcasm dripped from Kaoru's voice and burnt into Hikaru, "Maybe the one where we go on a ski trip and I couldn't snowboard to save my life."

He realised what this was all about: Kaoru was angry at him for blurting out his embarrassing moments without asking him. He sighed and squeezed his twin's hands.

"I'm sorry, Kaoru. It was a long time ago and I thought you'd be okay with it by now. I'm really sorry; I shouldn't have told everyone that. I'm sorry." Kaoru swivelled his head and looked at Hikaru.

Sheer remorse and sincerity radiated from him. "Forgive me, Kaoru?"

'I love how he says my name; like it is the most precious and sacred thing in the world.'

Kaoru bent down and brushed his lips against Hikaru's. Hikaru smiled and kissed his brother back.

The bell rang again for classes to start. The twins emerged from the room holding hands.

"I'll see you later, Kaoru," Hikaru turned and kissed him lightly.

Kaoru bit his lip playfully in return before breaking apart. With one last wink, Hikaru disappeared down the corridor.

Damn, I miss him already, Kaoru thought as he went back into the room.
