Day Seven

"Bite my tongue, right now the perfect time
Do anything to make her happy
Even if it means my being miserable
As long as she's loving life"

-Chiodos "Lindsay Quit Lollygagging"

It killed him to see the love of his life smile in the arms of someone else. His pain didn't matter to him, though, because she was happy.

Lysander had been so familiar with being kicked around and used like he had no feelings that he had practically gone to heaven when he had met that Weasley. She was so golden and he had been entranced the minute that he had laid eyes on her. Dominique was so sweet and kind, unlike those other Weasleys that had made Lysander's life a living hell for quite some time. He had sworn never to fall for another Weasley but he hadn't been able to help himself when it came to Dominique.

They had been such a perfect couple – ask anyone. She had put his heart back together when everyone had believed that it was beyond hope of repair. In return, he had shown her love and devotion that she had never been shown before. Lysander had put all of his heart and soul into their relationship and so had Dominique – or so he had thought.

Oh, that dreadful day when his heart had been literally ripped into little shreds and then thrown into a blender or two. She had told him that they needed to talk and he hadn't been expecting anything major. Lysander should have known; he had been through the same damn thing so many times before. He had truly believed that Dominique was different. Naïve Lysander, always setting himself up just to be knocked down and he always fell so damn hard. She had told him that she had started seeing someone else and she didn't want to be with Lysander any longer. Apparently, she had been introduced to a recently divorced Draco Malfoy at Neville and Victoire's wedding.

He had wanted to hate her. He had wanted Draco to end up breaking her just like she had broke him. Lysander had wanted Dominique to know what it felt like to have the sun leave her earth, to have her heart ripped to bits and then thrown in her face. All of those harsh feeling vanished when he stumbled into the couple in Diagon Alley. Lysander had never seen Dominique look so happy. He had never seen her smile be so full of joy.

So, yeah, she did break him worse than any other girl that he had been with but he wasn't mad. He was, more than anything, jealous – no, not of Draco – but of Dominique because she had found someone who completed her. He had searched high and low for a girl to make him that happy but he hadn't been successful yet. Maybe Dominique would have been the right girl if they had stayed together a little bit longer but he hadn't been the right guy. He would never have been able to complete her like Draco. And yeah, Lysander was miserable but he would just have to do what he had done so many times before: Pick up what was left of his heart and continue his quest for love.
