It was a long fall, but soon enough, I felt the cold water close over me. I opened my eyes. Everything was blurry, but I could almost see. There she was! The current was carrying her down the river, but she seemed to be sinking. I couldn't tell if she was breathing or not. I paddled through the raging water until I reached her. I grabbed her around the waist, slung her over my shoulder, and surfaced. I was gasping for breath, and I could smell blood. The cold water was dripping into my eyes, almost blinding me, but I didn't care. I needed to get Eta to shore. I swam the best I could with one arm, until I reached land.

I dragged her onto the ground. She wasn't breathing. I pushed on her stomach. Nothing. I leaned down and pressed my lips to hers, trying to give her CPR. Still nothing. When she broke away, she was smiling.

"You looked like you needed CPR," she grinned.

I laughed and kissed her. She sat in my lap, leaning against my shoulder. I noticed a large gash on her shoulder.

"Uh, Eta?"

She turned and saw the cut. "Oh crap," she muttered.

I smiled. "No worries." I leaned down and began licking the cut clean. She purred. When it was clean, I helped her stand up.

"We'd better get you to Jenny."

She nodded and shivered. Her lips looked almost blue. I noticed that a cold breeze had picked up, making the cold water all over us even colder. I put my arm around her and rubbed her arm, trying to warm it. She nuzzled up to me, but she still shivered. It was starting to worry me.

"Tumble," she whispered. "I-I c-can't f-feel m-my p-paws."

I was about to respond, when I felt something cold and wet land on my nose. Looking up at the sky, I saw fluffy white pieces of snow beginning to fall.

"No," I whispered. "Not now!"

We started the long trek back to the Junkyard. Soon enough, we were both coated in frigid snow. Eta had started to sneeze and cough
