"Hey, Nova, where do you keep your spare bed… sheets?" Nathan asked, stopping dead in his tracks when he saw Riddick. "You're–You're–You're–You're–" Was the only thing he could get out while he backed up into the wall.

"Nathan, I need you to calm down. He isn't here to hurt anyone. He's harmless, to us." She said, emphasizing how they weren't in danger.

"You're, Riddick." He said, more to himself.

"That's right. The Richard B. Riddick. Escaped convict, murderer, former Lord Marshall of the Necromongers. Wrongfully dethroned, of course." He said, extending his hand for him to shake while smirking. "And you are?"

"I'm, Nathan." He shakily said, hesitant in taking his hand.

Riddick grabbed his hand very firmly, and shook it very firmly.

"The baby daddy, I presume." He said, continuing to smirk at him, hand still in his grip.

Rhea almost dropped the pan of food she was holding, and Nathan visibly cringed.

"He is my brother!" She said, louder than she meant to.

There was a pause to make sure Kyra hadn't woken up. Riddick let go of his hand and turned to her.

"You serious?" He asked, looking him up and down "Different dads?"

"We're actually fraternal twins." Nathan said, in a matter of fact tone.

"My bad." He said.

"I hate when that happens." She said, continuing to fix him a plate.

"I'm just going to go upstairs, and then throw myself down them." Nathan said, motioning behind him before leaving.

When he was done eating she led him by the hand upstairs into Kyra's room. She looked very peaceful, her small chest rising and falling rhythmically. He couldn't remember the last time he saw an actual baby.

"You can hold her hand if you'd like." She said.

"Nah, that's okay." He said.

"I really think you should." She said, her tone serious.

"Yikes. Is it really that big of a deal to you?" He joked.

He reached his finger in and placed it into her open palm. It slowly closed around it.

"She's got a hell of a grip." He chuckled, before carefully pulling back out of her grasp.

She led him back out of the room and into her own.

"Hey, we should really talk about something." She said, before feeling him wrap his arms around her waist.

He started kissing her neck and sliding his hand under her shirt. He pressed his crotch firmly into her behind and she was surprised at just how hard he already was.

"Stop." She said, grabbing his arms. She turned around to look at him, he had his goggles off and she could see his eyes. She remembered them from the very first time she saw them, they looked more tired now. "This is serious. We need to talk about something very important." She emphasized.

He walked past her and sat at the edge of her bed.

"Alright. Let's hear this very important information." He said, looking exhausted.

"Do you remember the last time we met each other? How we got to spend time together, and then you had to leave?" She said.

"Yeah, those fucking mercs." He sighed, dragging his hands down his face.

"Well, in the time we spent together we had sex several times." She said, earning a smirk from him.

"That we did." He said, leaning back on his elbows.

"Well, as I assume you know, when people have sex enough times, especially unprotected, sometimes other humans are formed." She said, swallowing hard.

He started to stiffen up, his expression changed, he seemed to swallow hard as well.

"You might as well just say what you're going to say." He said, sitting back up, not wanting her to drag out the reveal any longer.

She opened her mouth, then closed it, and went to her side table to grab a pen and paper. She wrote down what she couldn't bring herself to say out loud, folded the paper twice, put it in his hands, and went into her bathroom before closing the door behind her. He slowly opened the piece of paper before reading it out loud.

"The baby is…yours. Her name is, Ky–Her name is, Kyra. She's fif–She's fifteen months old." He said, swallowing very hard.

Had he really been gone that long? He stared at the paper and read it several more times. He would fold it back, open it up, and then read it again. It didn't feel real. He never expected to experience this part of life. He got up and knocked on the bathroom door.

"Nova. Baby, come out here, please." He said, the tone of his voice fluctuating.

She opened the door and there were tears careening down her face. Her eyes were red like he'd never seen them before. He opened his arms and she flung herself into his stomach and started bawling uncontrollably.

"What's wrong!? What did you do to her!?" Nathan demanded, barging in the room.

"Got her pregnant, and abandoned her, apparently." He said.

It was four in the morning, Nathan was sitting across from Riddick on the couch. Watching the man he'd heard only violent stories about bottle feed his niece, who also happened to be his own daughter, was a surreal experience.

"You're my niece's father." He said, still trying to make sense of it.

"You're my daughter's uncle. It's dark outside. Water is wet. Any other obvious things we should be listing off?" Riddick said.

"I–I'm sorry. It's just, when, Nova, told us what happened to her while she was away, we never would've guessed that you two were a thing. She never mentioned it." He said.

"Hell, that was probably for the best. If she was my daughter, or sister, I probably would've had an aneurysm or something after finding out. I'm not gonna pretend I'm some stand up citizen who's being judged all wrong." He said. He looked down at Kyra who was only concerned with her bottle. "Hey, I'm letting you know right now, you're never leaving the house. You're gonna be a bubble child so you can't make any bad decisions, or get into any kind of trouble." He joked. "Slams are no place for a kid to grow up." His tone turned serious.

Being pregnant meant the baby constantly pressing on her bladder, she fixed her clothes and went to the bathroom to pee after having to hold it for what felt like too long. He also got dressed. He looked outside and saw Kyra was no longer with the neighborhood kids. He opened the door and was about to go find her when he heard and saw her coming up the steps.

"Did you have fun?" He asked.

"Yes. We were playing basketball, then foursquare, then more kids came and we tried playing volleyball, but the basketball hurt our hands too much." She said, showing where the basketball had broken her skin.

"You should probably go wash your hands." He said.

She was about to go to the bathroom, but he told her to wash her hands in the kitchen sink instead. Rhea came out and asked if she had fun. She repeated what she had already told him.

"Well, I'm glad. It's getting late, we should leave before things start getting too wild around here." She said.

Kyra turned to him and her face dropped.

"The deal was you stayed for lunch. You even got to play with the neighborhood kids. That was more time than what was agreed on." He said.

She hugged him firmly.

"Even if you weren't to come live in the same city as us, I wish you could at least be on the same planet." She said.

"I know, me too." He said, giving the top of her head a kiss.

She let go before turning to leave out the front door.

"It was genuinely nice to see you again. Even if it wasn't planned, or how either of us expected it to go. Maybe we'll meet again someday." She said.

"If it's meant to be, I guess. We're not getting any younger, though. Me especially." He joked.

She went and gave him a hug, he put his hands on either side of her face and kissed her forehead. They really were getting older, he was right to emphasize his own ageing. She could see lines on his face that she hadn't seen before. Even if he was Riddick, even if he was Furyan, he couldn't keep running forever. With a final goodbye she left closing the door behind her. Knowing that they both would always have a place in their hearts saved for one another.
