Jacobs Point Of View
Seven years ago she left me. She left me laying in my bed broken inside and out with my heart bleeding and my eyes moist with tears that I refused to let fall. She left to become something I hate and to be with someone I despise. She never called, but then she never said she would. Charlie called everyday, hoping, praying that I have heard from his only daughter. Mad and hurt, knowing that Cullen did something to her. Sometimes I think about telling him the truth. Yes, Cullen done something to her, but she wanted it. Yes, she is dead but strangely enough still walking this earth. I guess one could say I've never moved on. I've gotten over the hurt, and the pain but I cant seem to find it in myself to forgive her or to stop loving her. My love has never faded, I'm not sure that I want it to. She is the only girl I have ever loved, the only one I've ever truly wanted.
I've moved on in some ways. I got over the fact that she wouldn't be my first and ended up losing my virginity wasted, high as a kite and to a girl who's name I cant even remember on my 21st birthday. I got my GED and saved enough money up to open 'Blacks Auto Shop'. I went to community college and got a degree in business and I moved out of my dads house. Its not the greatest life, but it took me a long time to get back to myself after she left so I'm proud of what I've done.
"Hey old man." I called as I walked through the door of my dads house. I watched him roll himself out of his bedroom, hair still wet and has on the black robe I bought him last week for his birthday.
"Hey what brings you here so early?" He asked, glancing up at the clock.
"Figured I'd drop by before I headed to the shop." Dad rolled himself over to his lazy boy and I quickly walked over to help him sit down. "Where Rach and Paul?"
"Who knows, they headed out early this morning."
I nodded. "You eat anything yet?"
He nodded yes to my question. "Charlie called this morning."
I sighed. Of course he did. He calls dad every morning and calls me most nights. "How's he doing?"
"I don't know. It seems like he loses something ever time I tell him I have no news." He shook his head. "Sometimes I wish he'd stop calling."
I know that feeling well, I thought. "He is never going to give up, is he?"
He raised his eyebrows. "Are you?"
"Don't start." I sighed. "I still love her. Probably always will, but I gave up hope the minute she went on her honeymoon."
I could tell he doesn't believe me, but I don't really care. What's the point in hoping? There is no point. Bella made her choice, she is probably living it up with her husband in some fancy house.
"Jake I know you say you are over her but your actions say something different."
I sighed. "I've moved on. Why do you think I ran off when I did. I knew I needed to move on and I needed time alone to deal with it. I dealt with it and I moved on."
He gave me a long look. "That's what you say. You know every time I see Charlie I can see the pain and worry in his eyes. Anytime anyone brings up Bella I see that same pain and worry in your eyes. I know your going to tell me that I'm crazy, but I'm your dad I know you better then anyone and I know when my son is hurting."
I didn't say anything for a moment. I know he worries about me and I know I've put him through hell since Bella came into my life. "Dad, please just drop it. It's been seven years, she is gone and if I'm lucky she wont be back." I felt a lump form in my throat. A big part of me doesn't want her to come back, but there is a part of me that wishes she'd come walking in the door right this second. "I need to get to work. Don't want to leave Quil and Embry alone too long, they may burn the place down."
My dad chuckled and nodded. I stood up and walked over to him, leaning down to give him a quick hug. "I love you dad."
I headed into work, mood slightly gloomy from the Bella talk. Quil and Embry was already there, working on a truck that needs to be done by tomorrow and Seth was up front manning the register.
"Hey guys." They nodded to me, but didn't stop their work to chat. I went to check inventory since I left last night without doing it and quickly made a list of parts that needs to be ordered. Afterwards, I headed up front to see if Seth would make the call for parts so I could get to work.
"Hey." He called as soon as he saw me.
"Hi Seth." I greeted. "I gotta get to work on the thunderbird out there, can you order inventory for me?" He agreed quickly and I headed toward the garage to get my hands dirty.

"Hey Jake?" Embry asked some hours later. I was laying under the car, draining the old oil.
"What's up?"
"Would you mind if I took off early today? Got a date tonight."
I thought about it for a moment. Technically speaking this is my shop. I paid for it, named it and my name is the only one on all the legal paper work, but when I hired the guys I didn't want us to have a boss/employee relationship. I made it clear that the three of us together would be running things and unless they seriously fucked up then I never pulled the boss card. "Sure man, go for it."
"Thanks. I'll make up the time tomorrow. Maybe you can take off early for a change."
I agreed, actually liking the idea. I hardly ever took time off or left work early, it'd be nice for a change of pace and there is a lady that brings her mustang in regularly that has asked me out on more then one occasion. Maybe its time I took her up on that offer, I could use some fun in my life. When lunch rolled around I sent Brittany a text before going out front to eat with the guys.
Hey this is Jake. Do you want to grab some dinner with me tomorrow night? -Jake
It wasn't long after lunch that Embry left. Quil and Seth left a few hours after that. I stayed until about 10pm, finishing up some last minute things before heading home. My house, like all on the Rez is simple. Single story, three bed, two bath brick house. I was just walking in the door when my phone rang. I laid down on the couch and answered without checking the name.
"Hello?"
"Jake," Charlie's voice sounded hallow. "How ya doing?"
I sighed. "Oh you know, same old thing different day. You?"
"I'm fine. Jake have you-" He paused for a long moment. "I bet your tired of this. You've probably already moved on and wish I'd just leave ya alone about it."
He was right one on point, I do wish he'd leave me alone about it. I think about her enough on my own without the nightly reminder of her. "Charlie, I still love her. I know how badly I miss her, I can only imagine how you feel. If calling me even though you know I have no news helps you, then call me every five minutes."
He chuckled. "She's a hard one to get over, huh?"
I let out a small laugh too, but it sounded harsh to my ears. "Yeah, something like that."
We talked a bit longer, it was pretty much the same every time he called. I asked how work was going, he asked if the shop was still getting plenty of business. Once we hung up I checked my text. There was only one.
I would love to! I get off work at 4 so I'm free after 5. –Brittany
I quickly text back that I would pick her up at 6pm then turned off my phone. I didn't really feel like talking to anyone else. Even though I was cramped on the couch it didn't take me long to fall asleep. I definitely regretted that come morning. My body felt tense and my neck was sore when I woke up. It was only 5am so I decided to take a run to stretch out my aching muscles. I didn't feel like phasing, I didn't want to deal with anyone else's thoughts, so I put on some running shoes and ran a good mile around my subdivision. Afterwards I ate breakfast, took a quick shower and headed to work. My run put me a bit behind so I didn't have time to stop in and see dad.
Once I got to the shop I remembered my phone was still off and quickly switched it on. There was two missed calls, both from my dad and a text from Brittany, just sending me her address. I let the guys know that I would be heading out at 4pm and got to work quicker then normal. When it came time for me to leave I got everything done that I needed to so Embry would be able to head home at a decent time after cleaning up and doing inventory.
When I got home I took a quick shower and dressed casually in a pair of dark jeans and a black button up. I got ready quicker then I expected to, so by the time I was done I was able to take a cat nap before I needed to pick up Brittany so I laid on my bed not caring that my clothes would wrinkle. In what seemed like minutes later my alarm alerted me that it was time to get up and by the time I actually made my tired ass get up I was a few minutes late getting to Brittany's house. When I finally did pull up I could see her looking through the blinds. I shook my head and walked to the door, knocking twice once there.
She opened the door quickly. "Hi!"
I gave her a quick once over. She is a beautiful girl. Soft tan skin, hair falling in big soft curls around her face and the body of any mans dreams. She is easily a 9 on the attraction scale, but my interest is minimal. "Hey, you ready?"
She smiled softy. "Yes. Let me just grab my purse and lock up."
I nodded and waited off to the side as she done what she needed. Once her house was locked up I followed her to my car and opened the door for her. She gave me a quiet 'thanks'. When I pulled out of her driveway, I realized I should have planned this a bit better.
"Hey listen," I started, hoping I don't offend her. "This was kind of a last minute thing, I didn't really have any plans in mind…" I trailed off, hoping she get the point and save me.
She laughed lightly, easing my fear of offending her. "Its okay, Jacob. How about we go to Derek's?"
Derek's is a small bar just outside of La Push. It's a hole in the wall place, but they have the best pizza around. I smiled over at her. "That sounds great."
**!**!**
"Wow, they sound like a joy to work with." Brittany laughed. I had just got done telling her about a prank Quil pulled on Embry that cost us 2 grand. That was definitely one of those times that I was the boss. Quil was lucky I didn't fire his ass.
I nodded, sipping on my 8th – or was it 9th? – long island ice tea. "They can definitely be a pain in my ass, but they are good guys."
She smiled, taking a large drink of something that was way to fruity to be called alcohol. I finished the last of my drink, motioned to the waitress that I wanted another and grabbed a slice of the left over pizza.
"You sure can eat." Brittany mumbled, then slapped her hand over her mouth. "Sorry that was rude."
I looked over at the less then half eaten salad on her side of the table and shook my head. "No, its fine. I can eat." I nodded to the waitress in thanks as she put my drink down in front of me. I took a large gulp of it. I tried to be interested in the girl across from me, but she was just so boring. She didn't talked unless I asked her a direct question or started the conversation and even then what she had to say was just boring. I've already asked about her family, her job, her hobbies and even her goals. I was out of small talk so I just sat there, watching the couple across the room playing a round of pool. When my phone rang, I was more then happy . Glancing at the phone, I looked up at Brittany. "Sorry, but I gotta take this." She just smiled and nodded. I smiled back and went outside, answering my phone on the way out. "Hey dad. What's up?"
"Hi Jacob. You busy?" His voice sounded weird. There was a slight nervous edge to it.
"Not really. What's going on?"
He hesitated for a moment. "Can you stop by here? Tonight?"
I pulled my phone away form my ear to check the time. 10pm. "Sure, but I'll be about a hour. You going to be up that long?"
"Yes, that's fine. See you then."
I went back inside and quickly explained to Brittany that my dad needed me for something, so I would have to cut our date short. She easily agreed with a smile and offered to call a cab. "If he really needs you I don't want to hold you up." She said, as I paid our bill and started to leave.
I shook my head. I'm more then ready to end this date, but I wasn't going to be rude. "Its no problem to take you home. He just needs me to come over, its not a life or death matter."
When we got to my car, she paused before getting in. "Well, I suggested the cab partly because I don't want you to be held up, but also are you okay to drive? You had like ten drinks."
I laughed, holding her door open. "I'm fine, I swear. It takes a lot to get me drunk, I'm barely buzzed. Want me to walk a straight line and say the ABC's backward?"
She laughed lightly and looked at me a long moment before getting in the car. The ride to her house was quick and once there I walked her to the door. "I know you have to get to your dad's, but do you think you could come in for coffee first?"
The look in her eyes said I'd be getting a lot more than coffee. "Maybe another time, I don't want to keep my dad waiting. I'll text you." Before she could say anymore I gave her a light kiss on the cheek and jogged back to the car.
