Angel of My Heart

I found an angel once.
It had been a long time ago, and she'd never really worked up the courage to tell her that that was what she was to her. Instead she called her many other things, desperately trying to hide her feelings from the beautiful girl.
She'd always worried that someone else would see her for what she truly was and take her away, but, as time passed, nobody seemed to notice that an angel was walking among them.
She sometimes forgot why she thought of her as an angel, but then she'd smile that happy smile of hers, and she wondered to herself how she could ever forget.
This angel of hers was like multicolored glass in a world consisting of gray. It didn't matter what happened around her, she still managed to shine brilliantly, revealing to anyone who'd actually stop and look, that there really are angels who walk this earth.
"What's with that face?" there's suspicion in her voice, "Are you thinking of something perverted again?"
"What a terrible thing to say," a mischievous smile made its way to the small otaku's lips, "Of course I was thinking something perverted, it's in my job description to think perverted things."
"That's a pretty dangerous thing to say, you know."
How long had it been since the first time she'd seen her for what she truly was? She couldn't really say, but she'd fallen in love with that brilliance. There was nothing in this world that could even compare to it, and so, she'd stopped searching for anything that might surpass it.
"But, isn't it in Kagamin's job description too?" she smiled suggestively at the tsundere, who's ears were now coloring red.
"What is!" for a brief moment there was a faint glimpse of something in her eyes, and then it was gone.
But the damage was already done.
Kagami's eyes widened as something unbelievably soft was pressed to her lips. The world seemed to grind to a halt as the twin-tailed girl tried to understand what had just happened.
And then, Konata pulled back, her own eyes just as wide with surprise as Kagami's. She hadn't counted on this, she'd always believed herself to be capable of holding back. To not allow her to notice.
"… Konata…?" her voice was weak and uncertain, as if she'd forgotten how to speak.
The small otaku opened her mouth, hoping that once it was open something would come out that could explain all of this. Unfortunately, for the second time in a just a few moments, she was betrayed by something within her.
"I love you," Kagami blinked, shocked by the pure honesty in her voice.
"I see…" those blue orbs seemed to stare into her very soul, and then they closed, sealing away their beauty from view.
Konata could only stare in awe as they opened once again, bringing with them a smile that didn't seem to be from this world. A smile which caused her to melt.
"I guess I should answer you…" a hand reached out, keeping the now halfway-melted girl from collapsing as the other hand gently urged her face upwards in order to meet those wonderfully blue eyes. And then, she kissed her, capturing her lips with a warmth that seemed to burn away her consciousness.
"I love you too," what was left of the girl named Konata stared up at the angel, captured somewhere between surprise and awe.
Neither of the two knew how long their third kiss lasted.

A/n: This was inspired by a picture, where – if you simply skim pass it – it almost seems as if Kagami has a halo. I hope that it was enjoyable.
