This is it, folks! The final chapter! Can you believe! After all this time, we are finally at the end?

What are the results of Sora's illness? Will he be cured? Will he and Kairi lose each other!

Find out now in the final chapter of My Last Few Days With You!

With a low, weary mumble, Kairi slowly woke up.

She found herself on the couch in her lounge, having fallen asleep when she had collapsed onto it to cry several hours ago.

Barely a second had passed after she had opened he heavy eyelids - before they suddenly widened as she remembered what day it was.

"Sora!"

The girl sat up frantically on the couch, beginning to hyperventilate in panic that had burst inside her that instant. She placed a hand over her heart as it raced in her worry over the spiky-haired boy whose name she'd just cried out.

It was the day which she and her best friend had been fretting over for what had felt like such a long, agonising time.

The day when the results of whether the boy was clear of his cancer were due to arrive and be revealed at the hospital.

Not only that, but if it turned out the deadly illness he had caught a fortnight ago had spread before he'd received surgery - then it was to be the day when his body would finally shut down - and he'd pass away.

"Sora!"

Ignoring how exhausted her tired body was as she screamed her friend's name again, Kairi threw herself to her feet. She raced towards the front door, intending to dart out through it and sprint down the street to Sora's house. She had to get over there that minute it to find out if her friend was alright. Nothing was going to get in her way - not even the source of the next sound to suddenly fill her home that moment.

"Kairi? Is that you down there?"

The red-haired girl paid no attention to her father's voice as she threw open the front door. She barely noticed how the sunny atmosphere of when she'd returned home with Sora that had changed to a cold, grey day as she stepped outside. Nothing else was on her mind. No breakfast, no idea of what time it was, no clothing to protect her from the weather, not even bidding a morning greeting to her adoptive father. The one thing she had to do was see her best friend to make sure he was okay.

Kairi pulled the door shut behind her before taking off as fast she could along the garden path. She paid no attention to how icy the air she was running though was or the black clouds that loomed above her in the sky, threatening to pelt her with rain at any moment. Darting through the gateway, she turned to start scurrying down the street towards Sora's house. The stressful terror she was going through increased as her answer of whether her beloved, lifelong hero was to live came closer.

"Sora..." she whispered fearfully under her breath as she approached the boy's home. "Please be alright...please..."

It was in no time when the house Sora had lived in with his mother all his life loomed at Kairi's side. The curtains were drawn across the longue window. Running up to the front door, Kairi banged on it hard with her hand, far too worried about the boy to realise how much noise she was making which filled the whole street.

"Sora?! Sora! Are you there?!"

There was no answer. Nobody inside the house came to open the door so as to allow the girl in.

"Sora!" She continued banging the door forceful as she called for the boy again in all her increasing terror. "Sora, please open up! Please come see me!"

The door remained locked. No one on the other side came to put an end to the racket Kairi was making - or to her horrible fear over the well-being of the boy she loved.

The princess' wreaked nerves shattered more speed as her heart picked up speed. The only one who could calm her down was not responding to her calls to him. That was precisely why her panic-stricken state was getting worse; if he couldn't come to the door or even hear her, then what she was afraid had happened to him could well have come true.

Refusing to believe her best friend had lost his life, Kairi fought back the tears trying to build up in her eyes as she banged on the door again. "Sora! Answer me! Please!"

In contrast to all that the girl was doing outside the house, nothing at all seemed to be happening in response on the inside. No one opened the door. No one drew back the curtains from across the lounge window. No one even stuck their faces into view through one of the front upstairs ones. Nothing whatsoever was being done by anyone in the building to discover Kairi was on the doorstep and was in desperate need of knowing if Sora was alright. If all the noise she was making was reaching him, he was showing absolutely no signs of being able to hear her.

"SORAAAAAAAA!"

Kairi screamed the boy's name for a final time with the last bit of energy she had left. Her hand stopped banging on the door as he entire body slumped weakly against it. With sobs starting to escape her, she sunk down onto the doorstep, hugging herself in all her agony as she cried.

The enormous grey clouds above her appeared to act on cue, letting the rain they'd been holding inside begin to fall. The heavy wet drops pelted down on the girl to mix with the tears running down her face. Kairi made no effort to run to find shelter. She remained where she had collapsed onto the doorstep, feeling all alone and helpless without Sora there to assure her he was alright - which he potentially could not be.

The unbearable thought that the kind-hearted, protective boy who had always been there for her was now perhaps dead was ripping to shreads the heart of the girl who couldn't face a life without him.

The weather wasn't any better on the smaller island than on the main one. The rain which lashed down on it had turned the soft, yellow sand on the beach all soggy and brown. It attacked the huge leaves on the palm trees which tilted to and fro while the grey sea water that surrounded the place went wild. The island where many teenagers played didn't appear much like it normally did.

Nor did the down-beaten girl who had just arrived there.

The soggy wet sand caused the soles of Kairi's shoes to squelch as she walked along the beach. How cold and soaked she was from the falling rain was nothing compared to how distraught she felt over what she feared had happened to Sora. She had decided to come to the place which held so many memories of her precious loved one - right up to their final outing a few hours ago where they had confessed their love for one another and shared their first kiss. Being there that moment and thinking of him, however, was only ripping the wounds in her heart open even deeper. They were filled with the worst pain the girl had ever felt in her life, which she didn't think she would ever recover from.

Sniffling, Kairi stepped up from the sand to head onto the raised stone surface at the back of the beach. The nearby waterfall was cascading into the small pool below it, now murky grey inside of its usual crystal blue. Dropping feverishly to her knees, the girl pulled back some foliage that concealed something on the smaller island which not many people knew about - which also held a lot of memories of her precious lifelong spiky-haired friend.

It was a small hole which served as the entrance to a secret cave.

Kairi put a hand onto her broken heart to steady its intense beating over the thought of what she was about to do and observe. She lowered herself down before crawling through the hole, proving to be small enough to fit through. Taking herself into the sheltered inside of the cave where the rain could no longer hammer onto her, she rose to her feet and whipped the droplets and tears from her face before looking around with heavy eyes. Though she was surrounded completely by darkness, she had no trouble recognising the place where she was, having visited it several times since she was small with Sora.

Soft sobs continued to escape Kairi as she made her way through the Secret Place. The path inside her through a narrow tunnel. It didn't take her long to reach the end. The sight of where she'd arrived caused her tears to fall faster down her cheeks.

She was standing in a wide spacey area at the far end of the cave. Some dim light which crept through a small hole above her allowed her to see the touches which she, Riku and Sora had added to the place. Scrawled all over the stone walls were drawings she and her friends had chalked there over the years. They had made the dark little-known grotto a lot more inviting and feel as though it truly belonged to the three of them. All Kairi could think about. however, as she observed the pictures was how young and innocent Sora had been when he had drawn some of them.

Making her way slowly around the cave, Kairi took in the chalk drawings which surrounded her with anguish-filled eyes. She turned to look at the ones on the stone wall she was walking alongside - and froze as a stunned look crossed her expression, finding herself gazing upon one particular drawing that stood out to her above the rest.

It was an image of hers and Sora's heads. They had been doodled there when the pair were both five, drawing each other's likeness and having them face one another. There had been an adjustment made to the picture, though, during the previous year; after Sora had left the islands, Kairi had wandered into the cave to find he had added an arm to the picture of him, extending out towards her with a star shape in his hand. It had taken her no time whatsoever to realise he was supposed to be - in the picture - offering her a Paupo Fruit. The idea of the friend who had just left wanting to share with her the stare-shaped fruit that was supposed to bind any two who divided it between them together for eternity had been enough to bring a tear to her eye - before she had made her own alteration to the image by making herself look like she was offering another Paupo Fruit back to the boy.

Kairi kneeled down before the picture to take a closer look. She placed a trembling hand onto it. How she didn't grasp on her first sighting of the picture that it meant Sora felt for her as she did for him, she couldn't at all tell. It seemed so perfectly clear to her now - causing he crying to become much harder. She wished she had told Sora she loved him far sooner rather than just hours before she could possibly lose him.

The broken-hearted girl's weeping filled the cave as she leant against the picture which was an image of the feelings she and the boy had for each other. She was deeply afraid that what was going on in what they'd drawn would never come true. She and Sora would never get to share a Paupo Fruit - and they would never get to be together forever. Nothing could save her from her terror that she'd lost the boy she loved. All she could do as she remained by herself in the cave was cry and cry and cry...

"Kairi?"

Kairi's sobs stopped in her throat, goose pimples spreading over her skin as her eyes widened at the voice which had just suddenly spoken to her from nearby. It was a voice she knew only too well. She quickly turned her head in his direction - resulting in a soft, awestruck gasp escaping her.

Standing with her inside the cave, gazing down towards her, was a boy around the age of sixteen. His hair was light brown and formed into wavy spikes. His blue eyes were filled with concern towards the girl over finding her all alone, crying in the darkness of the grotto that was their Secret Place.

It was the kind-hearted, caring, wonderful boy she loved and thought she'd lost. Here he was before her disbelieving eyes, well and truly alive.

"Sora!"

With new-found strength at the sight of him, Kairi leapt up from the ground to throw herself at Sora. She wrapped her arms tightly around him as she cried hard into his chest, not wanting to ever let him out of her embrace.

As he bore down at her, Sora enveloped his own arms around her in return. He held her close and protectively. Nothing was a more upsetting image to him than the girl he adored in tears. He raised a hand to run his fingers tenderly through her hair.

"Where've you been?" he asked softly. "You weren't at your house when I called there earlier. I've been looking all over for you since I got back from the hospital."

The boy's words caused Kairi to lift her face up from his chest. She gazed up at him with her nerves trembling like a plucked harp string over what she was about to hear.

"You've been to the hospital?"

"Yes." Sora nodded slowly. "And they've told me my results..."

Kairi's trembling body went rigid in Sora's arms. The tears in her eyes were joined by instant fear. This was the moment of truth; the time when she'd find out if the cancer caught by the boy a fortnight ago was terminal ... and whether or not he was doomed to die...

"A-And..." She struggled to speak in her weak trembling voice as she braced herself to find out if what she had been dreading for such a long time was to happen. "...wh-what w-were they?"

"I'm afraid you're gonna have to put up with this face far longer than you thought..."

"Wha-" Kairi's eyes widened, tears leaking out of them again as she gave Sora a bewildered look over what he'd said to her. "You mean-"

"Looks like you're stuck with me, Kairi..." A wide, enormous grin spread across the boy's face, directed down at the stunned girl in his arms. "...'cause I'm cured!"

Kairi's eyes widened even further upon hearing Sora's revelation, all the fear which had been feeling them starting to erase to be replaced with disbelief. Her mouth hung open over the words that had come out of his, praying she had not just misheard him.

"C-c-cured?!"

"One hundred percent!" Sora smiled brightly over her reaction to the news he was telling her. "The hospital staff told me my cancer is completely gone! It's with me no longer! I'm going to live - and stay with you!"

That was all Kairi need to hear as all the pain in heart instantly started to heal. New tears began to steam out of her eyes, not a single one of them made from any sadness. Her face brightened up as she peered up at the boy loved. Finding out he had been cleared of his cancer and was not going to lose his life had made the girl the most ecstatic she'd ever been in her entire young life.

Unable to find the right words to tell Sora how happy she was, she hid her face in her chest again, crying in all her relief as she tightened her arms around him.

As he observed Kairi's alleviated response to what he'd assured her, Sora's blue eyes twinkled softly. He had felt like bawling in elation himself when the doctor he and his mother met with at the hospital confirmed he was cleared of his cancer. That was certainly what his mother had done, overjoyed she was not going to lose her only son. It had been impossible for Sora to leave the hospital without elatedly dancing his way through the corridors and parking lot. He had been anxious for the car journey home to be over quickly so that he could deliver the wonderful news to Kairi.

Now here he was, having just told her and taking in her the strong effect it was having on her. He was able to tell all the grief and anxiety she'd been feeling over the past fortnight. To see all he'd put her through leaving her at last brought such remedy to the boy who loved her.

"There there, Kairi." Sora spoke in a gentle tone as he rubbed Kairi's back. "It's all over now. My cancer is no more. I'm going to be staying with you-Mmm!"

No further words left Sora's lips as Kairi suddenly pressed her own against them, causing his eyes to widen. She sealed them together, placing her hands onto his cheeks. Now assured that the love of her life who she'd been afraid to lose was in fact going to live, all she wanted to do in all her happiness was kiss him.

It took a moment for Sora's surprise over Kairi's action to wear off before ecstasy filled him at the amazing tenderness of her lips. He had been extremely afraid he would never feel them against his own again after that morning. No longer needing to worry about losing his life and leaving her behind, he closed his eyes as he joyfully began to kiss the beautiful girl back.

All alone in the cave, the two teenagers who had grown up together, fallen for one another and had their worries about being separated forever put to rest at last kiss each other in all their love. They dropped to their knees as they kept their lips sealed, remaining right beside the drawing they'd scrawled of the two of them sharing Paupo Fruits. Now that what Sora had been battling over the previous fortnight was defeated, they felt nothing could tear them apart.

They were truly destined to remain in each other's lives - for eternity.

"I bet your mom was thrilled when the doctor told you the good news, huh?"

Kairi was walking with her arm linked with Sora's as they entered the street where they lived. Her gaze sent up to him was as bright as the sun, which had cleared away the rain clouds that had been in the sky and was now drying up the soaked houses, cars and ground. The weather was as nice as it had been that morning once again, though nowhere near as beautiful, to Sora, as the red-haired girl at his side. He sent a small smile down at her in response to the sweet one she was sending him as he led her along the sidewalk towards his house.

"I'd never seen her so emotional," he answered, "in a good way, of course."

"I'm sure she was." Kairi nodded softly, understanding. "It must've been a huge relief to find out her beautiful baby boy is completely cured..."

Sora's expression softened, made by Kairi's statement to think for a moment about how much it would have meant for his loving mother to learn he was going to live - before making a face at the girl over the words she had used to describe him. "Don't call me that!"

"Why not?" Kairi grinned teasingly up at him as they stopped before the front door of his house. "That's what you are to her, Sora. It's nothing to be embarrassed by."

"It is to be called a beautiful baby boy out in public!" Sora smirked at her as he pushed open the front door. "Thank goodness no one's around to hear me be called that-"

"HERE THEY ARE!"

"WAHOO!"

"HOORAY!"

Both Sora and Kairi nearly jumped out of their skins at the chorus of cheers which came at them. Still linking their arms, they stepped forward to enter the house - and their jaws hung open on discovering what awaited them inside.

Standing nearest them , a wide grin on his face was Riku while lined in a row, having risen together from the couch together, were Tidus, Wakka and Selphie. Behind them, Nikkou was smiling broadly at them with Kuuki at her left side. On her right was someone who made Sora instantly unwrap his arm from around Kairi's in alarm; it was none other that her adoptive father. Staggered to see him in his house, the boy was afraid of what the mayor of Destiny Islands would say if he caught his arm linked with his daughter's.

"What's all this then?" Kairi asked, looking around.

"We've all heard the wonderful news," Kuuki answered, smiling.

"It's time to celebrate the recovery of my beautiful baby boy!" Nikkou beamed with pride.

"Mom!" Sora's face went red with over what his mother had just referred him in front of his friends - exactly after he had told Kairi how embarrassing it was . "Don't call me that!"

The room filled with laughter.

"So glad you're all better, buddy!" Tidus made his way over from the couch, to bump fists with the spiky-haired boy. "We were so happy when we were told you're cured! Weren't we guys?"

"You bet!" Having followed Tidus, Wakka put his arm around Sora's shoulders with a wide smile. "There's nothing more we wanted than for you to get better."

Sora smiled gratefully at Wakka as he felt his arm being unwrapped from around him - before nearly being knocked off his feet with a cry, feeling his breath being stole from how tightly he was being hugged by Selphie.

"Thank goodness you're all cured, Sora!" she squealed in a high-pitched voice. "I don't want you to ever get ill ever, ever again!"

How tightly he was being squeezed in the brunette girl's crushing embrace prevented Sora from being able to move or say anything. It was only when Selphie let him go that he managed to regain his breath - before widening his eyes upon seeing he was now being approached by Kairi's adoptive father. Having not spoken to him very much, the sixteen-year old was a little nervous over what he had to tell him - especially since he had been kissing his daughter.

As he stood before the pair, the mayor glanced at Kairi. She was staring at him with curiosity over what he had to say to her best friend. He was about to reveal as he faced Sora with a warm expression.

"I'm sorry I didn't know about your illness, Sora. I had no idea while I was away on business."

"Oh..." Sora gave a small nod, understanding. "You don't have to apologise. You weren't to know..."

A smile crossed the mayor's face. "Kairi's told me you've been taking her on a lot of fun outings and activities these last few days."

The boy blinked, rather surprised to hear the mayor had heard from his daughter what he had been doing for her over the past fortnight. He turned towards Kairi. She was sending him a soft grin as she nodded in response to what her father had said.

"Well...yeah..." Sora replied modestly as he looked at the mayor again. "What I had made me eager to spend my time with her..."

"You don't need to worry about what you had anymore...which I'm very glad of." The mayor patted Sora's shoulder gently, his face filled with gratitude. "Thank you for always being an amazing friend to Kairi."

Sora's humbleness increased over hearing the mayor describing what he was to high daughter. He smiled bashfully up at him before glancing at Kairi again. She was beaming at him in all her sweetness, thinking to herself that amazing was far too small a word to describe him.

As the mayor stepped back, Sora peered around to see who else had anything to say to him - and noticed again just how close by was Riku. The sight of the silver-haired boy made him suddenly remember that he was supposed to join him and Kairi in their last outing - yet he never did.

Before any words could leave Riku's mouth, Sora suddenly spoke out to him loudly at the top of his voice. "So where were you last night?"

"Oh..." As an apologetic look crossed Riku's face, he winced inwardly over how Sora was unknowingly delivering out a hint in front of their mothers and Kairi's father of what they had planned last night for when they were supposed to be in bed. He replied in a low, quiet whisper, trying not to let their parents hear. "I'm sorry about that, Sora. I really did mean to join you both last night, but I was so tired when I lay on my bed, I accidently stopped pretending to be asleep-"

"So you were asleep all that time?" Sora grinned at Riku in a teasing way, completely clueless that everything he was saying was at a clear volume. "You were flat out while Kairi and I were on the smaller island last night, hanging out together and having plenty of fun while waiting for you to sneak out as well to join us in the moonlight-"

Sora's story of what he and Kairi had been doing the night before broke off upon seeing Riku going rigid with a look of panic across his face. His smile faded as he stared at him, puzzled, realising his expression was being sent to the girl at his side. He turned to face Kairi. The princess of heart was staring up at him with wide eyes filled with alarm as her mouth hung open. She silently nudged him while tilting her head in the direction of some of the other people in the room. The bewildered boy gazed towards them - before letting off a gasp upon realising from the looks being sent directed at him who he had blurted out about them sneaking out of their houses at night in front of.

The faces of the three adults in the room had gone staggered upon hearing what had left the lips of the spiky-haired boy. Kuuki was agog to learn her son had planned to sneak out of their house and go to the smaller island late at night - but that was nothing compared to how the mayor and Nikkou were to learn that their own children had succeeded in doing so.

"You were out on the smaller island?" Nikkou cried. "Last night?"

"When you were supposed to be in bed?" added the mayor, flabbergasted.

Sora tensed up, worrying over what he and Kairi were about to hear now that he'd given away the two of them had been out late at night instead of being in their beds. He cast a remorseful glance in the girl's direction, praying he hadn't gotten her into trouble with her father.

Nikkou's face went white as what she had found out suddenly reminded her of something that had occurred in her house. "Had you been out as well that night when I heard you downstairs, Sora?!"

Sora's nerves tensed even more. His mother had recalled hearing him in the lounge when he had returned home from sailing under the stairs with Kairi aboard the raft. Unable to face Nikkou, he dropped his gaze and held his hands together in front of him, squeezing them in his growing unease. "Um...er...well..."

Her suspicions confirmed, Nikkou's eyes widened.

"You've been out these last few nights instead of being in bed?!" The mayor's voice was filled with shock as it bounced off the walls in the room before reaching his daughter. "You and Sora?!"

Kairi said nothing. She had gone calm and collected as she faced he father while Sora continued to panic. Kikkou was gazing at the red-haired girl in astonishment over hearing what she and Sora had been sneaking out at night, as were Tidus, Wakka and Selphie.

"Is there anything else I should know?!"

"Oh yes, Dad...there is something you should know..."

Taking a deep breath, Kairi placed he hands onto Sora's cheeks. She turned the anxious boy's head to make him face her - before pressing her lips against his in front of everyone watching her, including her father.

Sora gave a muffled cry, stunned over what Kairi was unexpectedly doing to him with so many people they knew there to witness. His panic increased rabidly as his body tensed up even more. No longer was he worried about what his mother and her father had to remark about them going out together late at night; now he had what they would think over seeing her kissing him to dread.

Kairi finally pulled away, letting go of his cheeks as she bravely faced the others. Sora felt his cheeks burning, bringing to tremble nervously as he turned away from the girl he loved to observe the reactions of all who'd just seen what she'd done to him.

There wasn't a single person in the room looking at the pair who wasn't highly astounded by what they'd seen. Tidus and Wakka's were speechless while Selphie was using her hands to cover her slack jaw that squeals were escaping from. Riku was staring at them with an staggered expression that almost perfectly matched the one his mother gave. No one looked any more awestruck, however, than Nikkou and the mayor. They gaped at their children with wide eyes, unable to believe what they had just taken in.

Feeling no embarrassment in what she'd just done, Kairi grinned widely ay the others as she linked her arm with her hero's. "Sora and I are in love!"

"Care to tell us something we don't know?"

Kairi's smile disappeared upon hearing what Riku had just said to her. She averted her gaze towards him to see he was smirking at her, bring as much confusion to her expression as there was forming on the spiky-haired boy's.

"What d'you mean, Riku?" Sora asked, befuddled.

"You seriously don't believe we couldn't tell how you two feel?" Riku chuckled, shaking his head. "It's been written all over your faces for such a long time! I just can't believe the only ones who couldn't work it out were the pair of you!"

With their eyes wide with surprise, Sora and Kairi faced one another silently. They could hardly believe their friends knew all along not only how they felt for each other, but their love was mutual - and all that time, they could not see it themselves.

"It took you long enough to tell each other!" Wakka grinned in satisfaction.

"It's about time!" Tidus added, equally pleased.

"Oh my gosh, you two finally kissed!" Selphie jumped up and down where she stood, her face glowing as she squealed in all her delight. "I'm so happy the pair of you kissed at last-"

"Hang on! Hang on!" The mayor raised his hands to silence the teenagers so that he could get a chance to speak. He had never looked so flabbergasted as he gaped around at the youngsters. "My daughter has been in love...and I didn't know this?!"

"Dear oh dear. You really do have a lot to catch up on, don't you?"

The mayor blinked over hearing the playful teasing remark that had been directed at him. He turned to see that it was had come from Nikkou. Standing at his side, she patted on his shoulder gently. A smile was on her face which affirmed that she had also been perfectly aware for a long time how his daughter felt for his son.

As Sora gazed on in shock over what his mother had just revealed she'd known long before he did, he gave a cry as the mayor suddenly cast his gaze towards him. He afraid of what he was about to say now that he knew he had fallen for the girl he had raised as his own.

For a moment, the mayor just stared silently down at Sora in his stupefaction of what he'd learnt about him. Then he revealed he could sense of how scared the boy was of what he was thinking - as a huge smile broke across his face. To show him that he didn't have to worry about what he thought, he ruffled Sora's spiky hair gently as he directed his thrilled gaze down towards Kairi. "You couldn't have picked a better boy to fall in love with, honey."

Kairi giggled, very pleased her father approved how the one she had fallen for as she smiled at the boy sweetly. "I know."

Surpise filled Sora's face over hearing the mayor's comment passed about him, as well as picking up how Kairi had responded. He was very relieved that her father wasn't against them being in love. Smiling brightly, he turned to face the beautiful girl at his side, holding her closer with his arm that was linked with hers.

"This is absolutely wonderful." Nikkou joyfully kissed her son on his forehead. "My beautiful baby boy has a girlfriend."

"Mooooom!"

Kairi giggled over the scream Sora had made in his embarrassment over his mother's words and action towards him.

"I'd say this calls for even more celebrating!"

Nikkou raised an arm to reveal she was holding something. It was only at that point Sora noticed that in her hand was his portable CD player. She pressed the 'Play' button, resulting in her son's ears perking up as from the speakers came the first melody on the disc he and Kairi had listened to on the day before his birthday - Musical Years.

"Would you all agree?!"

Loud agreeable joined the loud music filling the room in response to what Nikkou had suggested. The fact that Sora was completely cured of his cancer and that he and Kairi had finally discovered they felt the same way for each other sounded to them all like highly good reasons to do plenty of celebrating.

Unable to hold back any longer, Riku started dancing on the spot in all his elation. "Let's get this party started!"

Sora and Kairi watched as the others began to join in with what Riku was doing. Everyone - Tidus, Wakka, Selphie, Nikkou, Kuuki and even the Mayor - started to dance to the rhythm of the beats, making no effort to stay quiet as they cheered merrily.

The pair of young lovers exchanged gazed silently. Smiles crept across their faces over how they had no reason to be scared of losing each other anymore, now knowing they were to stay together. With their lips curling into bright grins, they grabbed one another's hands before together running into the centre of the lounge to start dancing and celebrating.

"That was some party, huh?"

"Certainly not something I was expecting to happen?"

"You deserved it. After all the lovely surprises you gave me this last fortnight, it's only fair you should get one yourself."

"I already did get a lovely surprise; finding out you've always felt for me how I feel for you."

With her cheeks turning pink over what Sora had told her, Kairi turned away from him to gaze out towards the sea. The sun was beginning to disappear beyond the horizon, turning the sky into a strong deep orange colour. The two lovers were sat on the shore of the smaller island. After the house party Nikkou had thrown for them had ended earlier that evening, they had returned to the spot where they'd shared their first kiss and confessed their feelings to spend some quiet time together.

"It sure was nice to see everyone there to celebrate you being cured."

"It was." Sora nodded, the smile across his face widening as he leaned towards Kairi to whisper in her ear. "But now the two of us all alone..."

"Oh, are you now?"

The two lovers instantly jumped with surprise upon hearing a mischievous voice suddenly speak to them. It was only one another they could see, so it had seemingly come from nowhere - yet they knew perfectly well that was not the case. They both knew exactly where - or rather, who it had come out of, as well as having no trouble recognising it.

"Roxas! Why'd you have to say that?"

How stunned the pair were to hear Sora's Nobody from inside him heightened. Kairi's jaw fell open upon picking up the voice of her own.

"Guys!" she exclaimed, pleased to hear from them "How are ya?! Haven't talked to you two since the night we were on the raft!"

"Sorry to interrupt your moment." Naminé sounded apologetic at first - before her tone changed into a teasing, reprimanding one. "That Nobody inside you, Sora, needs to learn when to keep that mouth of his shut!"

"Hey!" Roxas was flabbergasted to hear the normally quiet Naminé speak about him in such a way. "I only wanted to say something really quick."

Sora and Kairi both laughed. They didn't mind at all to hear their Nobodies speak during their alone moment. After realising how what Sora had been through had affected Roxas too, they were pleased he boy was going to be alright as well, not to be torn away from anyone - including the sweet blonde-haired girl who highly cared about him.

"I just wanted to say that I'm really happy that you're cured, Sora." Roxas' voice was soft and sincere as he spoke to Sora. "The doctor telling you that you're cleared of your cancer while we were at the hospital today was wonderful for me to hear from inside you."

Sora grinned, grateful for his friend's kind words towards him. "And I'm extremely glad that nothing is gonna happen to you, either, Roxas! Me being cured means you're gonna be fine as well."

What neither of the Somebodies could see what how overjoyed their Nobodies looked inside them. Roxas was highly relieved that he was going to keep his life - as was Naminé, her fears of losing the one she loved put to an end at last.

"I'm also pleased you two finally kissed!" Roxas added quickly with a chortle. "It took you two long enough! Ain't that right, Naminé?"

"Oh yes." Naminé giggled. "I was afraid you two were never going to kiss."

Kairi's eyes instantly widened. She was shocked to learning even their Nobodies had been aware that she and Sora felt the same way for each other while they had never known.

Sora also looked equally aghast over learning Roxas and Naminé were satisfied over what he had shared with Kairi - before a cheeky grin filled his face. "Why's that? Is it because you two are technically kissing when we are?"

It was the Nobodies' turns to be shocked. Their eyes widened inside their Somebodies over what Sora had stated. His cheeks turned red as Roxas' blushed inside him, unable to come up with any comeback to the implication to how he felt for the blonde-haired girl.

As Kairi gaped at Sora over what he'd said, she heard Naminé beginning to stammer inside her. Thinking he had embarrassed her, she raised a hand to lightly hit his shoulder.

"Ow!" Sora cried, rubbing where she had struck as he made a face at her. "What did I do?"

Kairi giggled with a shake of her head.

"I-I think we'd b-better go now!" Naminé stammered in all her bashfulness. "Don't you th-think so, R-Roxas?"

"Oh y-yeah." Roxas was sounding just as sheepish as he struggled to get any words out. Afraid of what Naminé would think if she found out what Sora had implied was true, he was now more than eager to keep his mouth shut for a while. "We'll leave you g-guys alone now."

Sora and Kairi both laughed over how shy their Nobodies were being. The fact they had always felt the same way may not have been obvious to them before - but the love Roxas and Naminé shared for one another was crystal clear to them.

"Talk to you both soon," Kairi said.

"Great to hear from the pair of you again," Sora added.

No further words came from the souls living inside their bodies. Only the sounds of the waves lapping onto the shore and the caws of seagulls flying through the sky filled the air. Soft smiles crossed Sora and Kairi's faces as they gazed into each other's twinkling eyes.

"Now we're alone," Kairi stated.

Sora grinned widely. "Then maybe now we can do what we planned to do out here this evening..."

As their faces brightened, the pair raised their hands, revealing they were each holding what had once been a whole Paopu Fruit that had been split in half on their arrival at the island. They held them out towards one another's smiling lips, which parted as they prepared to bite into the piece they were being offered by the other. With all their happiness filling inside them, they sunk their teeth into the fruit that was said to hold the legendary power to bind any two that shared one together forever. After all they'd been through and found out their feelings were mutual, now felt like the perfect time to turn to drawing in the secret cave of them sharing such a fruit into a reality, never wanting to be apart from each other ever again.

They munched away on the clunks of fruit in their mouths, enjoying its soft juicy taste before swallowing.

"This is really nice," Kairi remarked. "Don't you think so?"

"Nowhere near as nice as those sweet lips of yours."

Kairi's blushed over what Sora had just utter - before feeling her heart racing on filling him placing a finger under her chin. As he gently drew her towards him, he saw that his own smiling lips were heading towards hers, causing her to beam brightly as she braced herself for what they were about to do...

"Oh, I nearly forgot!"

Sora stopped himself from what he was about to do as he suddenly remembered something from the night before. As he put a finger on Kairi's lips to halt her, she watched in puzzlement as his hand dove straight into his pocket. He pulled out what was in there to hold it up before the girl - and her eyes in surprise at the sight of it.

It was what she had given him the night before to take with him to the hospital that morning.

Her lucky charm.

"Almost forgot to return this to you!" Sora grinned sheepishly. "Don't think you would have forgiven me if I never brought it back to you!"

Kairi smiled softly up at him. She had forgotten herself about giving her charm to him in her desperation to have him back. Not caring for it as much as she cared for him, she took it from him and put it inside her pouch before wrapping her arms around the boy. "I'm just glad to have you back," she said.

Sora's gaze softened at Kairi's words about him. He embraced her back in his own arms before moving his face towards hers. As he prepared to carry out what he intended to give her, he watched as her lips parted in readiness to give him the same thing...

...which was to come straight after what she whispered softly to him.

"I love you, Sora..."

Hearing those words being said to him from the girl he had always adored filled Sora's blue eyes with the most happiness they had ever held.

"I love you, too, Kairi..."

Both lovers closed their eyes as they pressed their lips together, wrapping their arms around one another for a tight embrace as they kissed. At long last, their fears of losing each other were over. Every ounce agony that had been in their hearts over the last fortnight was finally healed. Nothing was going to tear them apart. Now that Sora was completely cured of his cancer, he and Kairi were free to live their lives in peace - which they were going to spend from then on for eternity how they would always love each other.

And that, my dear friends, really is the end of this story!

I never thought it would get as long as it did, nor did I think it would take this long to write it! I'm really sorry that chapters were on the lengthy side and there were sometimes long gaps between updates. If you've not let that put you off and stuck to reading it up to this point, I thank you very much.. All those who have supported me over the years and read it all to the very end, it really means a lot!

Time for me to go and find some new projects to write out! Definitely more Kingdom Hearts stories will be coming from me! I'll certainly be thinking up new SoKai ones! I doubt anything I'll ever write in the future will be anything like this!

Thanks again for reading, everyone! I hope you've enjoyed! It's been fun! :)

Cheerio!
