A navy kimono-clad Japanese man stood on his balcony, watching the sky cry. His deep, dark brown eyes were sad as they silently watched people running around under their umbrellas to get out of the downpour.

Oh the umbrellas. They were all different colors and sizes, reflecting each person's personality. Red, blue, green… some people even had different designs and patterns. Those almost-black eyes caught sight of one particular umbrella. They widened considerably; his heart nearly jumped out of his chest.

A waterproof paper umbrella stood out from the crowd. It was a blinding white with the design of brown fish swimming along the circular shape. "Mei…" He breathed out. It was a matter of seconds before he spun on his heels and horridly put on his Geta.

The man was outside his apartment complex faster than he even knew he could move. Frantically, he searched for that umbrella once again. It was harder since he was not above the people walking around, but if the owner of the umbrella was wearing pink like she always did…

Everyone was wearing black or some dark color… He couldn't find her; she was gone.

A shiver ripped through his body. His robe was soaked through, making his skin wet and cold. He had no umbrella. He was no one anymore.

A young Kiku walked quietly down the street to his higher education school. His parents forced him to stay home all last week, so he was fretful thinking of all the work he had to make up.

Pearl Harbor had been bombed. All Japanese were now looked down upon and made fun of. Kiku was not looking forward to facing all the bullies at school now. He was one of the few Asians at his school and all the people were mean there.

Little thirteen year old Kiku didn't understand why people were so prejudice all the way up in Washington when it was Hawaii that was bombed.

His parents told him that it wasn't safe to go to school or even go out the house for a while. He had begged and begged to go to school. Kiku didn't like missing school; it made him antsy. Luckily, he had asked his best friend, Alfred, to take notes for him while he was gone.

Kiku walked through the school doors safely without anyone noticing him. But when he took a step inside the school, everything changed.

The hallway slowly fell silent as he walked down the breezeway to his locker. Everyone stared as he walked by. Oh no, if today was going to be like this all day, then maybe it was best if he did stay home for the rest of his life.

By Kiku's locker stood Alfred. Blue eyes looked nervous behind glasses.

"Hey. I can't talk to you anymore because my parents won't let me but I wrote the notes you wanted me to so you can have them. Bye!" The blonde spoke as fast as possible as he thrust the papers into his hands and took off. So he wasn't even allowed to have a best friend because of Hawaii…

Kiku's shoulders slumped as he opened his locker and got what he needed out of it. Today was going to be a long day.

A/N: I know what you guys are thinking... Why in the world are you making MORE stories when you should be FINISHING your others?!

Because if I don't get them out then it'll give me a headache as I over think it! Anywas... Prologue! This is kinda like one of those filler stories I'll be writing when I have writers block on other stories. xD First straight couple pairing! Weird. I really think that Japan can only be paired with Taiwan... so, here you go!
