Okay, here is my last story for the day. Hope you enjoy.
Disclaimer: if I owned Danny Phantom, I would have made it a lot more angsty and bloody, so no, Butch still owns it. Not me… cries**
Whispers from the Open Door
By-angel-feather-keeper
Danny groaned as he flew up to the window of his room. He had a long night of ghost fighting, but at the moment, he just wanted to sleep.
Phasing through the glass, he dropped to his bed, not bothering to change back, and closed his eyes, breathing slowly.
In, out, in, out.
It felt good to relax, and just lay still. Not having to deal with stress
"Danny?" he groans when he hears his mothers voice through the door. "Sweetie, are you in there?"
"Yeah mom! Come on in!" he says, to tired to move. The door creaks open, and he hears a gasp come from his mother's lips.
What was wrong?"
"Phantom!?" oh, crap. He forgot to turn back. He looked at his mother wide-eyed. He just couldn't find the words to explain himself. He slowly lifts himself, but stops when he feels pain.
A lot of pain.
"Ah!" he yells, clutching his side. Maddie moved her line of vision from his face, and to the wound.
The wound that was bleeding, not only ectoplasm, but also blood. Red blood.
"What is that about!?" she yells frantically. Danny sighs. There wasn't a way out of this. Even if he phased through the floor, she would just question him later.
He looks up at her, fear evident in his eyes. "Can you keep a secret?" he asked. Maddie nodded, and Danny sighed again. "Even though I don't believe that, I have no choice but to tell you, so hear goes." He looked up at his mom, a serious expression on his face.
"I'm half human." He said. "Still alive. Not dead." Maddie's eyes where wide as dinner plates, and she pulled back in shock. She quickly regained her posture, and re-approached the teen. After putting her fingers to his neck, her eyes widened, and she started to look faint.
"You have a pulse." It wasn't a question as much as a statement, but Danny nodded anyway. She looked at his chest, and saw the gentle rise and fall of his lungs.
"I have a human form too." He said. "And I don't think you will like what you see." Maddie gasped when white glowing rings began to materialize around Phantom's waist, and his infamous jumpsuit began to turn into a red and white T-shirt, and blue jeans.
His glowing green eyes turned into a familiar baby blue, and his white hair turned ebony black.
Maddie looked into her baby's blue eyes, and saw something that she never looked for before.
Determination, strength, skill, experience.
She saw a hero. Her little baby was a hero. He looked up into her eyes, and smiled weakly. She smiled back, and when he saw this, a since of relief washed over him.
What he saw in his mother's eyes, was acceptance. The only things he ever really wanted. He felt tears come to his eyes, and he flung himself at his mother, who chuckled slightly as she rubbed circles on his back in a comforting manner.
"My little boy." She murmured. "My precious baby boy." As he fell to sleep, she smiled as memories flooded back to mind of how she used to do this when he was scared. And she felt her own eyes closing, and just as she feel into the bitter-sweet darkness of sleep, she murmured one last thing.
"My little Phantom."
