Challenges of Living Together

Family

"You're family is weird." Gilbert told Matthew matter-of-factly, from his place in the living room.

"Like you're the one to talk. Yours isn't different."

"At least I don't have kids who try to kill each other." Canada threw something at him.

"Christ, will you give it a rest? I've told you at least half-a-dozen times, it was an accident. Jean tripped down those stairs and Vincent didn't mean for him to break his arm."

"Sure, sure. And the pipe incident? And that time your kid "accidentally" hit your other kid with his car? Or how about the time your daughter knocked a tooth out of your son's mouth? Or when –"

"Okay, okay, I get it! They have issues. Now shut up or you'll be missing a few teeth yourself." Prussia opened his mouth to add to that, but when he saw the glare in his lover threw him, he closed it.

"Your family has issues too." Matthew walked over to him and plonked himself on the couch, pushing Gilbert's feet off.

"Less than yours."

"They do not."

"They do so."

"Name me three things, then." Prussia challenged him.

"I'm too polite to say anything bad about them. I feel bad they had to put up with you for so many years."

"Polite my ass. You can make your brother cry. But I guess that means you can't find anything worse to compare my family to."

"I could if I wanted to."

"Sure you could."

"I can too and you know it." Canada poked Prussia hard in the stomach repeatedly.

"Alright, alright, you made your point."

"Good." They were both silent.

"Man, you have issues, never mind your family." Matthew pushed him off the couch and wouldn't let him back on, until he got a long and sincere apology.
