How the Apocalypse Should Have Ended
By CastielLovesDean
This is what could have happened during Dean's conversation with Michael.
Suddenly, Dean had an idea. "So, I gotta ask you something. You're at your most powerful when you're in the right vessel... me... right? That's why you can't smite Lucy without me?"
"Yes."
"If I said 'yes' right now, could you smite Lucifer before he got a hold of Sam?"
Michael seemed to consider the question.
"I mean, if you can beat him when you're both in your true vessels, shouldn't you be able to beat him with less collateral damage if you're the only one in your true vessel?"
Michael finished his thought process. "Yes. I could do that."
"Well, then... Yes."
The next thing Dean knew, he was waking up in 2010 in that gaudy brown and orange motel room. Castiel was unconscious on the other bed, and Sam was asleep – and healed – on the couch. Dean stood up to check on the two of them and noticed a note in his own handwriting next to him on the bed.
Dean-
Lucifer is dead. The Apocalypse is over. Sam is fine, and Cas will remain human until and unless he wishes to return. Sorry I didn't come up with this plan earlier. My bad. Have a nice life.
-Michael
"What a dick," Dean mumbled to himself.
