Title: Why Wait

Pairing: Reid/Morgan

Summary: Their job is dangerous, and they know they could die any day, so they waste no time together.

Notes: I own nothing. Some spoilers.

They walk into the job knowing that it's dangerous, knowing that many agents die in the field. Reid is even able to give the exact number per year, something everyone hears but don't want to listen to. They're careful, but they still do their job, and the dangers they take along with them, and all they can do is hope that they don't become another of those statistics.

Bad things happen, and the severity of the dangers are in their faces. Reid knows he's a trouble-magnet, if his track record is anything to go by. Just the incident with Tobias Hankel is enough for him to realize just how mortal he is.

He and Morgan love each other. They realize this on their own, the growing feelings of admiration and affection that are different than their feelings for the rest of the team. They don't act on them right away, but they hardly wait before Morgan asks Reid out for what could be a casual outing with a friend, except for the blushing, happy smile on Reid's face when he agrees.

They spend whenever they can together, having coffee, sitting in the park, out at a club, or having sex. They don't see a reason to wait and take things slow. They are both red-blooded men that want and need each other, and realize that the other feels the same way. Reid moves in after a couple of months.

They know they're going to die someday, a day that might come sooner than they would like. When Reid is on leave after his brush with anthrax, Morgan spends every minute he can with his lover, curled up together on their couch, Clooney on the floor beneath them, just in distance of lazy fingers that find comfort in the dog's soft fur. They hold each other tightly, bodies pressed against each other, sometimes sexual, sometimes comforting, but always a way to assure themselves that they have more time together. The seconds that pass are treasured and appreciated.

Because they know that they could die any day now, and they can't waste any time together.
