Written for my friend midnight_birth (on LJ), who challenged me with the prompt "Harry, Draco, a camel."

* * *

A loud pop sounded through the silence of the desert. A slight air disturbance blew a breeze as two wizards materialised, their dark robes contrasting sharply against the white sand.

Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter stood, their backs to each other, wands in hand.

Harry moved to pocket his wand, satisfied that no threat faced him.

"Harry."

"What?" Draco's low voice made him turn sharply, wand held forward again. "What is it?" he asked again, confused, when danger did not present itself.

"What the hell is that?"

Harry straightened, lips twitching, dropping his wand-hand to his side. "That's a camel, Draco."

The animal was sitting on all fours on the soft sand, quizzically observing them.

"Why is it here?"

"Because we're in a Middle Eastern desert."

"Oh." Draco straightened, pocketed his wand, and cleared his throat.

Harry grinned. "Have you never heard of a camel before?"

Draco shrugged and started walking. "You'd never heard of a Blast-Ended Skrewt until you were fourteen."

"I think we all wish we'd never heard of Blast-Ended Skrewts, Malfoy."

"Point."

"But even I'd heard of unicorns and centaurs." He started walking after him.

Draco smirked. "And thought they were fictional?"

"Hey, don't blame me, blame the International Statute of Secrecy! Anyway, don't worry, camels don't spit fire. Although, come to think of it, they do spit."

Draco stopped suddenly, and turned around to look at where the beast sat. The camel returned the gaze. "Potter. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

Harry frowned. "I'm not having sex with a camel."

Draco rolled his eyes. "And thank Merlin for that. Actually, I was thinking that we Apparated in the wrong spot, and we should try again." Draco took Harry's hand. "Ready?"

Harry turned to face him, snaking an arm around Draco's waist. "Malfoy."

"Yes?" said Draco, looking at him from inches away.

"Is that a wand in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"

The camel suddenly turned to look at something else.
