Disclaimer: I do not own NCIS, only this Michael Weatherly autograph that my cousin managed to get for me (Love you Jamie).

Saturday. Two hours before midnight.

Walking into the room Gibbs stopped for a second to look around before focusing on the bed. Laying on the bed his senior field agent was tracing a small delicate cross attached to a chain with his fingers.

"Kate gave me this." Tony commented softly without looking up at his boss.

"I know." Gibbs made his way over to the bed and sat down at his agent's side. Tony's green eyes flickered up to meet his for a second before returning to the cross.

"Why did she leave boss?"

Gibbs frowned at the small voice, when did his agent become so…frail? Looking down at the younger man he contemplated the question. "I don't know Tony." Gibbs sighed. "I guess it just was her time."

Tony's fingers tightened around the necklace. "I didn't want her to go…" Gibbs reached out with his hand and ran it through the Italians hair.

"None of us wanted that DiNozzo, but sadly we were not given a choice." This was foreign territory for Gibbs, usually it was Abby or Ducky who comforted Tony when he was like this.

"I miss her." Tony sounded tired.

"We all do." Gibbs replied.

"Ziva doesn't." Gibbs let a small smile show on his face.

"Ziva didn't know her but I'm sure they would have gotten along."

"Yeah…" Tony's eyes were closing. Gibbs stood up and carefully rearranged the blankets covering his agent.

"Tucking me in boss?" Tony opened an eye with difficulty to look at him. Gibbs stroke back a few hairs out of Tony's face and smiled.

"Yeah DiNozzo." Tony closed his eye.

"Never been tucked in before…"

"I know Tony." Gibbs took one of Tony's hands in his own and slowly stroke it with his thumb.

"Sleep Tony." He said gently. Tony gripped his boss hand tightly for a moment before relaxing.

"Will you be here when I wake up?" Gibbs blinked back a few tears.

"I will." He promised. "Go to sleep Tony."

"Good night boss." Soon Tony's hand slipped out of Gibbs unmoving ones and landed softly on the bed.

"Good night Tony."

The only answer he got was the screeching of the heart monitor and the sound of his own breathing.

I say to you my little friend,

I say to you in the end.

You have a place in my heart.

I say to you oh my dear,

A lonely thought you can hear.

Sleep tight, I say to you.

Good night, I love you.

The end.
