Author's Note: Just something that was on my mind for a little while. Be warned. I wrote this in about fifteen minutes, so it's pretty short. And by the way, this takes place before TLO. If you want to be specific, it takes place during BOTL, right before he goes to Percy's apartment.

Disclaimer: No ownage whatsoever.

Nico di Angelo sat alone, only his thoughts keeping him company. He extended his legs to rest on the nearest boulder, and sighed loudly. In the background he could faintly hear music and laughing. And just for half a second, he wished he could join and take part in the fun. But that was just how life worked out for him.

Everyone else would have a great time, while he would just sit in the back and watch.

It wasn't very fair to him. Sure, he had done some wrong things in the past, but he had good intentions. Like trying to bring his sister back. She was the only family he had, and it wasn't right that he only had a little amount of time with her. She had helped him through everything, and now he found himself alone. They say they understooh what he was going through. But they didn't.

He had done some good things to make up for it though. He summoned soldiers to help fight. He had even passed out from all of that. And when he woke up, what was the first thing he did? He left. It was all for the best though. He didn't belong, and he simply needed to get away.

That didn't make him a coward or anything, did it? A coward was someone who lacked courage, and ran away from his problems. Nico didn't think that suited him. There really was no correct term for him. He could place a stereotype on every single person he knew. Percy was the hero. Grover was the sidekick. Kronos was the villain. And the list went on. There never seemed to be anything for him, though.

Definition of a hero: a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.

Definition of a villain: a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime; scoundrel.

Depending who you asked, there would be a different answer for each question of what he was. In fact, he was pretty sure most of those answers would be choice b. the villain.

And while he wasn't a hero like Percy, he most certainly wasn't the villain like Kronos either. But maybe…just maybe…

He didn't fit into any of those stereotypes. He was just Nico.

The anti-hero.

And who's to say he couldn't change it? He could become the hero if he wanted. Heck, he could be the villain if he wanted. But the only thing that appealed to him was being the hero. Appreciated. Cared. Loved.

He would do something to change it. Actually he already knew that. He knew something, something that would change everything forever. And the best part, it would all be positive changes. There would be no more villainous deeds. From now on, he would just be Nico.

And maybe one day he could take the anti out of anti-hero.

But for now, he was okay with it.

"I've found out some things. I want to make you an offer."

-

"What?"

-

"The way to beat Luke. If I'm right, it's the only way you'll stand a chance."

---

"Nico di Angelo came into Olympus to a hero's welcome."

A/N: Don't you just love Nico? I know I do. Reviews are appreciated.
