Well…that wasn't random or anything.

I glanced at Iggy out of the corner of my eye.

He had his hands behind his head as he lazed against the tree. He looked pretty serious about what he said though.

"And what makes you say that? Girls dig dark and mysterious." Sadly, I was only half kidding.

"No way, dude. They 'dig' a guy with a sense of humor. And, you know, it kinda helps that I'm drop-dead gorgeous." He gave me a superior look.

Ugh. I can't believe I was actually following him on this. And- hey! I have sense of humor! Kind of….

"Whatever, Iggy. Out here in the land of Nowhere, there is hardly a girl for miles. But if we were back in Arizona with Dr. Martinez or something, girls would be clinging to me like..." I paused to think of a good metaphor.

When I finally came up with one, Iggy had a sly look on his face. Uh oh.

"You're right, " he said slowly, "But out here, we always have-" he turned his head pointedly in the direction of You-know-who.

"Max."

"No."

"Come on, Fang," he practically begged. "It is SOOO boring out here. Come on, just a small contest. No foul play or bombs or anything. I promise!"

"And mess up my friendship with Max? No way."

"Pshh, that was messed up to begin with. Come on, this will be fun!"

It's too bad he couldn't see my death glare at that first comment, but I had to admit that there was an excitement in his eyes that hadn't been there for at least a few weeks.

"Please?"

Crazy, perverted source of fun…

"Please?"

And I would rather just sit out here or go fly or something…

"Please?"

There was no way in the world…

"Please?"

No.

"Please?"

"Fine."

Iggy grinned evily.

And so it begins.
