I can't believe how much fanfic there ISN'T around for this movie. Crazy, right? Anyway, this isn't the greatest but it's late. Jason/Sparrow, takes place two weeks after the events at the end of the movie. Enjoy! P.S. Don't own it.

He'd been coming to the store almost every day since the fight across the street, two weeks almost and she'd almost gotten used to his vague, awkward attempts to engage her. She'd even come to find his presence somewhat charming. So when he asked her one day, "what's this?" she indulged him, even though he looked as though he'd seen it before.

She stepped around from behind the counter and crossed over to where he stood and placed her hand on the glass case as well, noticing how he blushed as her hand brushed his. He was sweet. She couldn't help but smile and blush a little herself.

"Oh this one's a jade dart. Pretty, isn't it?" It was one of her favorite items. It had been in the shop for as long as she could remember and for some reason it didn't seem to be the sort of item most people seemed keen on looking at or buying. Of course, she'd considered buying it for herself but she already had one rather like it (not made from jade of course) and somehow had always thought of better ways to use the money since it was a rather pricey item. More than once she'd wondered if that was why no one seemed to care much for it, for the item did look rather old and dingy, but the shop owner had assured anyone who'd ever asked that it was fine quality jade and a valuable old antique.

"It's beautiful," he said, leaning in closer to the case. "Could I have a closer look?"

She considered her options. She was fairly certain he wouldn't be buying the dart, but then, she did feel sort of sorry for the often neglected item that rarely left its case. Thinking it couldn't hurt, she retrieved the key for the glass case and opened it, handing him the dart, their fingers brushing again.

"The woman who the shop owner got it from said it had been in her family for ages. That it was used long ago to defeat a cruel warlord."

He stared at her for a long moment and she had to look away from the intensity of his gaze. "What?" she asked.

He looked down a moment, then said, "This dart belonged to a young woman. When she was a small girl the cruel Jade Warlord murdered her family and town because her father was a politician who opposed the warlord. She survived because her mother hid her in the well. For years she practiced with her dart, this dart, a jade dart that could kill the jade warlord, preparing for the moment she could take her revenge."

"But when she came to take her revenge, her vengeance rebounded upon herself and she died. A young man who she fought with managed to kill the Warlord, but the woman died in his arms. He carried her to the Jade Emperor and begged him to give her life again, but there was nothing the emperor could do."

She couldn't keep herself from leaning closer to him. "This young man, did he love her?"

He looked at her seriously. "Yes. He loved her very much. But he never got the chance to tell her." He paused a moment. "He - he never worked up the courage." His face was now inches from hers.

She sucked in a breath. "So it's a cautionary tale."

He smiled. "Among other things." And as though to prove himself both cautious and courageous, he leaned over, closing the gap between them and kissed her.
