She was so beautiful asleep. Her fiery hair flowed down her back and she twitched as it tickled her. Midna, adorable, impish Midna. If she hadn't come to him in Hyrule Castle's dungeon that night, he would most likely be dead. He reached out and brushed a finger down the pattern on her arm.

"Nu-uh, not now. I won't turn you into a wolf. Someone might see you…"

Link chuckled. Midna always muttered in her sleep. Sensing his presence, Midna wriggled over to him and curled up, resting her head on his knee.

"Jeeze, Midna, I didn't know you liked me," Link teased, stroking her hair. The little imp didn't take any notice and simply began snoring. Link chuckled again. He loved the nights of break between conquering dungeons. Right now they were hiding out in a cave at the base of Snowpeak Mountain, having secured the shard of the Mirror of Twilight that was in Yeta's possession. From the time they had set out to recover the Mirror, Midna had opened up to him, and, Link, in turn, told her more about himself. Gradually, they came to know each other better, but Midna's sharp tongue and sassy personality always left things unknown. It was only she slept that she opened up fully, leaving herself completely vulnerable. The Hero loved these times, but they always came to an end.

Just then, Midna sneezed and her eyes eased open. She slowly realized where she was and her bleary expression was replaced by one of horror. She leapt up and retreated to the other side of the cave, red-faced.

"Link, you're dead," she threatened. Without another word, she took the orange and black crystal that transformed Link into a wolf and threw it at him. Link felt his insides rearrange and the next thing he knew he was looking from the perspective of a four-legged beast. Midna landed on his back and yanked back his ears.

"This is your punishment. I'm not going to change you back for three days. Now get your butt down to the Zora River," She stated with all the command of the Twilight Princess. Link sighed; the wonderful moment had to end. He would be more careful next time.
