"A drop in the ocean,

a change in the weather,

I was praying that you and me might end up together..."

Jacob Black was in his Volkswagen Rabbit driving along the coast of the Olympic Peninsula listening to the radio when the cords of an unfamiliar song started. He wasn't really listening until he heard those words and then he turned the volume up until it was uncomfortably loud. He listened closely to the lyrics of the song and while it played he felt his heart shatter. It had only been yesterday when Bella ran off with the leech to save her precious Cullen; even in his mind he spat the name with venom. He felt his anger building up and tried to calm himself as his shaking worsened. He felt as if the beast were about to burst through his skin, but then overwhelming sadness washed through him and it calmed him enough to where the shaking sub-sided. He shook his head to clear it before making a u-turn and heading home.

"It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert,
But I'm holding you closer than most,
'Cause you are my heaven.

I don't wanna waste the weekend,
If you don't love me, pretend
A few more hours, then it's time to go.
And as my train rolls down the East coast,
I wonder how you keep warm.
It's too late to cry, too broken to move on.

Still I can't let you be,
Most nights I hardly sleep.
Don't take what you don't need, from me.

Just a drop in the ocean,
A change in the weather,
I was praying that you and me might end up together.
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert,
But I'm holding you closer than most,
'Cause you are my heaven.

Misplaced trust and old friends,
Never counting regrets,
By the grace of God, I do not rest at all.
and New England as the leaves change;
The last excuse that I'll claim,
I was a boy who loved a woman like a little girl.

Still I can't let you be,
Most nights I hardly sleep,
Don't take what you don't need, from me.

A drop in the ocean,
A change in the weather,
I was praying that you and me might end up together.
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert,
But I'm holding you closer than most,
'Cause you are my

Heaven doesn't seem far away anymore no, no
Heaven doesn't seem far away.
Heaven doesn't seem far away anymore no, no
Heaven doesn't seem far away.

aooo
aooo

A drop in the ocean,
A change in the weather,
I was praying that you and me might end up together.
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert,
But I'm holding you closer than most,
'Cause you are my heaven.

You are my heaven"

Bella was his hope that even though he was a monster he was still good, he was still able to be a boy. As much as he helped her through her crippling pain, she helped him come to terms with who he had become. She was his safe harbor. She was his last piece of normalcy, the last thing from a life before being a wolf. And now, and now she was running back to him, running to save him and away from the one person who needed her most. Jacob was beyond heartbroken, he was lost. He was angry, so very very angry! He felt the beast within him growl as he pulled into his driveway. He quickly hopped out of the car and threw his shoes in the backseat before running for the woods as the beast burst out with a vindictive pleasure.

Jacob ignored the voices of the pack and ran and ran. He ran until he was drained and changed back to his human form. He sat against the nearest tree and cried until he felt no more pain, until he was ready to let her go for the time being. He let his mind wander to her smile on last time before he changed back to the beast and ran home in a downpour.
