It wouldn't be me

"Just do it, Shikamaru," he said, through the chip-filled mouth.

"You're being really troublesome at the moment, Chouji," Shikamaru replied.

"No, I'm being supportive."

Shikamaru closed his eyes and sat down. "You're being annoying."

Chouji sighed and sat down. "You know what your problem is Shikamaru?"

"Enlighten me."

Chouji rolled his eyes. "You're too stubborn. You have the perfect opportunity coming up, and you aren't going to take it."

"It's because I don't –"

Chouji interrupted him abruptly. "Yes you do and you know it."

Shikamaru looked at him.

Chouji smiled. "Just go. I mean, you've done things far harder than this, and you've managed to do them with ease, right? This should be a breeze."

Shikamaru frowned. "Tch, fine." He got up and began walking away. "Though I'm only going so you'll get off my back."

Chouji smiled and waved at him. "Whatever helps you sleep at night, pal."

A figure walked up behind the one left behind. "Takes him a while, huh?"

Chouji turned around and laughed. "What do you expect from him, Ino? He is a lazy-ass after all."

Ino giggled softly. "Yeah, but he's a lazy-ass in love."

Temari, finished with her meeting for the day walked back to her temporary office. Ready to pack away, she sees a piece of paper lying on her desk. Curious, she picked it up.

You want to go out with me?

Shikamaru

She smirked and walked outside to find him waiting for her.

"You know," she began, putting a hand on her hips. "Some girls prefer something a little more than a few words on a blank piece of paper. Couldn't you have said something, I don't know, more romantic?"

"I couldn't think of anything."

"Couldn't you have at least tried to?"

Shikamaru smiled and began walking towards her. "Then it wouldn't be me."

She looked into the sky thoughtfully. "True."

Chuckling softly, he stepped closer once more. "So?"

She smiled playfully. "Fine," she began as they walked off together. "But you're buying dinner."

End.
