Disclaimer: I don't own Yugioh

Dear Yami,

First let me say I know it's kind of stupid naming my journal after you but it made me feel better to at least have the illusion of being able to write to you. (And don't worry I know part of my terms of exile are no contact…I'm not looking to break that.)

Now, if I was able to write to you I'm pretty sure you would want to hear about how I've made out since getting abandoned in the desert just across the border. I actually ended up doing pretty well. Apparently there is a village that was established a few generations back not far from Domino's border. The village was established by other exiles who had been banished because of the whole rule about the God Chosens. When the villages found out that was why I was there I was welcomed here with open arms and I have made a couple of new friends. I also got a surprise a few days after I was banished. Ryou turned up.

I know you are probably wondering why Ryou left. I actually asked Ryou if he had been chasing after me or followed me out of some twisted sense of loyalty. Ryou shook confirmed this was not the case. He said that he was told that apparently he and I weren't really each other's God Chosens…which makes zero sense to me but whatever. He said it was something some priests had done out of a sense of mercy by randomly playing matchmaker for people who didn't have God Chosens. Apparently it was a huge scandal and the priests responsible were stripped from their priesthoods. Ryou however said that he did have the chance to become a royal scribe…apparently the Pharaoh offered him a chance to apprentice with the current scribe but faced with his dream coming true but doomed to be alone for the rest of his life Ryou chose to pass on that opportunity and to head to a different horizon. He actually met a young man named Malik here and the two are absolutely adorable together. Malik is goofy but he is also super sweet to Ryou. Ryou did make a point to tell me that they are just courting and that nothing might come of it…but between you and me I see the way he looks at Malik when he thinks Malik isn't looking. He's head over heels in love.

As for me. Well in the last two years I've actually done quite well for myself. I have my own house which is beautiful in my opinion. I also actually tried to start my own business. It isn't much but apparently there is a demand for puzzles around here. So, I started one day completely out of boredom whittling some wood into a shape and then broke it into a bunch of pieces. Malik saw it and was super excited to be able to do a puzzle and thus my business was born. Last I heard puzzles that I create have been shipped all though the country I currently reside in and some have even made their way back into Domino with a couple of trading caravans.

I also might have found someone. I know, I know haven't I gotten myself in enough trouble with love but I don't know something about this guy just makes me smile. I can't wait to see him and if I'm perfectly honest I almost feel like I used to when I used to be cuddling with you back before this whole mess with the God Chosens got started. His name is Adam. He actually looks a lot like you but he's actually a little bit older…he turned 21 a couple of weeks ago. It was actually his grandparents who founded this village initially and he was the main person who helped me to build this beautiful home. Anyway, long story short Adam started out as a great friend. He also every week makes his away across the border to get news of what is happening back in Domino because he knows that some of us still want to know.

I know it's a little late but congratulations on your wedding to the Pharaoh. Based on what I heard it was a beautiful ceremony. You also, last I heard had a beautiful baby boy that you named Heba…and according to the rumor mill you are expecting yet again. You really need to tell that husband of yours that you can't really be much of a coregent if he keeps you laid up in bed pregnant all the time. ;) But anyway, all joking aside I'm sure you are an amazing coregent and Domino is truly blessed to have you.

Anyway, back to Adam. (Yes I know I'm still a scatterbrain but in my defense this is my journal and I can say what I want in whatever order I want to Yami.) Adam actually asked me out a week ago and our first date is supposed to be tonight. I have to admit I'm feeling really nervous about it. I really like Adam a lot. His kind, funny, sweet, strong and if I'm perfectly honest really hot. His skin isn't pale like yours or mine or the same dark shade that Pharaoh's skin is but a lovely inbetween tan color and his eyes are almost a grey blue instead of violet like yours but other than that he could totally be your twin. Adam told me the date was going to be pretty simple, apparently there is an Oasis not far from here where there is a natural rock water slide. Adam said this was his favorite place to visit when he was growing up and he still loves to head out there for a swim. And that he wanted to share that with me. Now, isn't that totally sweet?

I know you would probably want to ask me about the trial and why I told the Pharaoh what I did. The why was pretty simple you wouldn't have been in trouble at all if it wasn't for me and I couldn't live with your life being ruined because of something that had been my idea. So, I stretched the truth a little bit. I was the one who found you unconscious in the bathing chamber and I had when I went in the room intended to talk to you more about what had happened earlier in the gardens. I know I know…I was pretty obsessive about the whole thing but in my defense you were the love of my life. And when I found you like that my heart just stopped. I turned you over and you weren't moving you weren't breathing. I had never been more scared in my entire life. I did kiss you. I don't know if it was from crazy desperation that that would wake you up. But it didn't work. I then got up and ran to get help. And I overheard Priest Isis and Seth talking about you, well expecting. I will admit I was really hurt that you hadn't told me about that yourself. But I just, I couldn't destroy your life and the family you had been building with Pharaoh and after I had snuck into your room that first night it was pretty clear that at the very least you had some kind of relationship with Pharaoh.

I also had truly figured out the answer to the question I asked you. If you had had to choose between Pharaoh and me who you would have chosen. You told me you didn't know. I don't think that was the truth. I think you would have chosen the man that you love and that you were starting a family with. Again, I really wanted to tell you that there are no hard feelings about that. You love him and that is all that matters in the end. Who knows, maybe the Gods were right to set you up with him after all.

Well, I guess I'm going to bring this journal to a close and go and get ready for my first date. I really kind of hope that it will be the first of many. At the same time I don't want you to think that I'm only going out with Adam because he reminds me of you. Trust me I'm not. I told Adam all about you and the truth about everything that had happened long before he asked me out. Adam told me that sounded like a rough break but that sometimes that was the way things worked out. He had then smiled and said 'don't worry mon petite, true love is a treasure. Don't feel bad or guilty because you truly loved this Yami fellow. You were blessed to be able to experience that since not a lot of people in Domino ever find it. My parents used to tell me if the Gods are matchmakers then they are pretty crappy ones.'

He told me that more than six months before he asked me out. I kind of had started to think that he liked me maybe as more than a friend and I didn't want there to be any misunderstandings or for anything to happen between the two of us for the wrong reasons. I think that hesitation on my part was part of the reason he waited this long to ask me out.

Anyway, I really need to stop putting off getting ready for my date. Ryou just poked his head inside to ask me if I was planning on standing Adam up because I was still hiding in my room not remotely ready for my date.

"Yugi, put the journal down already and come on. You don't want to keep Adam waiting." Ryou scolded as he made his way into Yugi's house. The two had actually become pretty good friends once they had started their new lives outside of Domino.

Yugi sighed, "I'm coming Ryou, I'm coming." Yugi mumbled.

Ryou looked Yugi up and down before he headed over to Yugi's wardrobe and started rifling through it. He pulled out a purple shirt which Ryou had before said brought out the color of Yugi's eyes as well as a pair of beige pants. "Here, put that on. Adam loves that color purple on you." Ryou ordered.

Yugi chuckled, "Okay, okay." Yugi muttered before he did as Ryou ordered and changed into the provided outfit. Ryou then picked up a brush and ran it through Yugi's tri-color mane before he nodded satisfied.

"You look good Yugi. Adam won't be able to keep his hands off you." Ryou said.

Yugi rolled his eyes, "Somehow I doubt that Ryou. Besides, this is only our first date." Yugi said.

This time it was Ryou who laughed, "Yeah. Okay. We'll go with that and ignore the fact that Adam has been head over heels in love with you for a while." Ryou said.

"He has not. We were just friends. That's all." Yugi countered.

Ryou rolled his eyes, "If you say so Yugi. Now go out there and knock him dead." Ryou said.

Yugi just shook his head before he headed outside and into town. For a village of outcasts it was a prospering village. Yugi made his way to the center of town where he saw Adam was standing with a horse clearly waiting for him. He spotted Yugi making his way over and waved.

"Over here Mon Petite." Adam called.

Yugi picked up his pace and joined Adam. Adam looked Yugi up and down a smile lighting his face, "You look beautiful Mon Petite." Adam muttered.

Yugi blushed scarlet. "So, about this Oasis that you mentioned." Yugi said to change the subject. Adam let him because he understood Yugi was embarrassed.

"The Oasis. It's hard to explain but I do know you'll love it." Adam said as he helped Yugi up onto the horse before climbing up on behind Yugi and lightly wrapping an arm around his waist.

"Don't worry Mon Petite, I won't let you fall." Adam whispered in Yugi's ear.

Yugi felt his ears heating up as Adam whispered to him. "I kind of thought that was the whole point of this outing."

Adam chuckled, "Not that kind of falling."

This time it was Yugi's turn to laugh. Adam pressed his heels into the horse's flank and the two galloped off into the sunset and hopefully their own happily ever after.

THE END
