Well, here it is! A remake of Quiet and Loud! It took a long time.... But I have warnings! If you read the original, the point of view and victim changed....
Quiet. No, not quiet, silent. It almost felt like no one was breathing. I was having problems sucking in sweet oxygen myself. But it was impossibly like a black hole of sound in this small, sterile white room. It was the opposite just beyond the locked steel door.
The screaming, seemingly amplified by the horrified silence coupled with it, kept coming. I couldn't move if I tried, my breath came out in harsh pants, as I stared at the gleaming steel door that separated me from my tortured beloved.
"No! No! Please! NO!" A desperate voice pleaded brokenly. It ripped my heart to shreds. Max should never have to beg like that, never have such a shattered soul that her pride would allow her to.
Suddenly her screams became unintelligible once more, turning into nothing more than pain filed shrieks. Shrieks that drove me to the brink of insanity, and brought me back again.
Then, in a shocking instant, everything was silent in our room and hers, until a small voice added quietly, "She says she loves you, Fang. And that she's sorry."
I knew what that meant.
"Goodbye, Max." I murmured.
