Looking down at the wreckage surrounding them, she realized just how close they came to almost losing everything. A million things could have gone wrong, anyone could have died...Suki exhaled sharply, wiping the sweat from her forehead.
"We're alive."
Sokka smiled as he looked down at her, tears in his eyes.
"Yeah." His arms closed tightly around her, and she clung to his clothing, pressing her face against his shoulder.
"You almost died," she mumbled. "I don't know what I would've done if I'd lost you, Sokka, and what would I tell Katara and your father?" She looked up and glared at him a little. "You should've been more careful!"
"Hey..." He leaned down to kiss her damp cheeks. "Cut that out, would you? I know what could've happened, but it didn't. Because you saved us," he said. "Everything's fine now..." His breath hitched and his arms tightened around her, and she realized he'd been as scared as she was. "Everything's..."
His voice trailed off, tears dripping down his cheeks as he rested his cheek against her hair, and Suki smiled.
"Alive."
