A/N: takes place during the Gourd Lake trial (that would be WAAAAAY back in case 4 of AA, folks). Remember, this happened as he was about to be declared NOT GUILTY for the Gourd Lake murder.

-- Edgeworth's Confession --

"I have a confession to make," Edgeworth says.

Phoenix is sweating bullets and thinking, Oh no, he's going to try and confess to being the murderer in the DL-6 incident!

"What is this confession?" asks the judge.

"I…" Edgeworth hesitates, then gathers his courage and looks straight at Manfred as he says, "I had sex with Franziska."

"YOU WHAT?!" Manfred roars.

"Several times," Edgeworth elaborates calmly.

Manfred lunges toward Edgeworth, intent on causing severe bodily harm. The bailiff quickly restrains the crazed prosecutor.

"What's that skeptical look for, sir?" Edgeworth asks, noting Manfred's disbelieving expression. His voice is dripping with sarcasm when he addresses his former mentor as sir. "She was always up for a little light bondage…"

"I'll kill you," Manfred hisses, seething. "I'll kill you like I killed your father." Only after the words are already out of his mouth does he realize what he's just admitted.

Manfred is arrested and forcibly removed from the courtroom, and the judge passes down his intended Not Guilty verdict.

As they're leaving the courtroom, Maya turns to Edgeworth and says, "Um… who's Franziska?"

"Von Karma's daughter," Edgeworth answers, with a hint of a smile. "She's about your age. Of course, it's been four years since I last saw her…"

Which means she would have been 13 or younger when Edgeworth-

"You didn't really…"

"No, of course not! But he doesn't know that." A long pause. "About the bondage thing, though, that might actually be true."

"You're kidding, right?"

Edgeworth shakes his head. He's not kidding. "You'll see when you meet her."

"Huh? We're going to meet her?"

"I expect you will, sometime. She is a prosecutor, after all."
