For some reason - This Chapter in the flow was meant to fit in at chapter twelve. I have no idea how I managed it but I posted it correct on TwistingTheHellmouth and not here. Sorry but enjoy the bonus.

12. Chapter : Training Fun

The two teams convened in the slayers' office as they had the most space. Cameron's eyes kept going to the sword collection on the walls. Buffy grinned, "We like our presents sharp and pointy. They were gifts off our husbands for our first anniversary."

"Not the usual but sure why not."

Vala examined them with a gleam in her eye, "They are beautiful. Can you use them?"

Buffy snorted, "Yes. Now how do we plan the training exercise?"

Cameron was one of the smarter soldiers/pilots. He had no ego and knew when to ask questions. He did not know the usual scenarios the SGC ran, "What's the usual S.O.P for the exercise?"

Sam knew what he meant, "Capture the flag. We use the mountains on top of the base. It helps cement that we are not some crazy secret undercover unit." The last part she said with a certain amount of wry humour.

They debated back and forth ideas and tactics. That was until Faith hit upon an idea, "The idea is to make them more alert and aware and train harder right?"

"That is correct Faith Jackson. What is your point?"

Faith grinned at one of her favourite sparring partners. "Well we have enough people in the group to run through the fifteen opposing teams, right?"

Cameron caught on, "You mean Guerilla style tactics?"

Buffy saw where Faith was going with the idea. They could use techniques they used against groups of vampires. "We'd have to split into three groups and merge as we thin down the teams."

Sam thought through the scenarios, "While we can do it. We're trained pilots which leaves Teal'c."

Vala had listened to all the things in the conversation. She saw the chance for something brilliant amongst these peoples. To be able to stay and build something special. She knew she would need to start letting some of the carefully constructed walls down.

"I have the memories of the goa'uld Qetesh from before the Tok'ra freed me. She knew enough so we can be sneaky."

Cameron was stunned at that revelation. His respect for Vala shot up, "Well that works. Vala and I as one team, the Slayers as another and you three as the last team."

He gauged the team's reaction and saw the general agreement. He decided that was the way forward, "I'll write it up and present it to the General. Vala wait up."

They all split and she walked along side Cameron. The nice part was where it was by choice and not because of the bracelets. He seemed concerned for her, judging by the look on his face. His accent deepened and it made him seem even more delicious in her eyes. "Will you be okay with us being Goa'ulds?"

She appreciated the question more than he could ever know. She gave him a small smile, "We are only playing a role and I can wear my leathers again."

O'Neill watched with glee at the nervous teams in front of him. He shushed the teams, "Well the time is upon us. All you teams are to make your way to the rendezvous point. You have all noted that SG's 1 and Slayer are not here. There is a reason for this."

Jack paused for dramatic effect, "You're to make your way to the flag. Use as much speed as possible because first to the flag wins ... First I'll introduce you to your friendly neighbourhood Goa'ulds."

Earlier that morning the four women had gone to get dressed in leathers. They used it as a semi-bonding time; it mainly involved finding a suitable outfit for Sam. When the slayers came into work, they had brought with them several outfits.

Sam seemed a little surprised but Faith shrugged, "We love leather."

The women were now all ready and gave small twirls. They walked into the room wanting to to see the look on their waiting husbands' faces. The woman all giggled at the look of incoherency when they unveiled their outfits.

Faith with an impish grin looked straight at Daniel. "I can't for the life of me remember why I stopped wearing leather."

Buffy smirked, "We could ask if it can be part of our uniform."

Xander had like the others, had been busy drooling, "I'd second that one."

Back in the moment, Jack continued to explain the rules. "They will be tracking and attacking anyone they meet. Anyone who bags one of the slayers will earn their team a free steak dinner at O'Malley's."

The 'friendly' Goa'ulds all shared a look at the ante-up. Faith spoke up, wanting to know if they would get a reward. "What about if our team prevents anyone from finishing?"

Jack knew he had fallen for that one, "Then I guess you will have a steak meal."

Teal'c just smiled at the Slayers, "It is fortunate that we have teamed up."

Faith winked at Teal'c, "Right back at ya big guy."

They watched the others start; they had given the other teams a half hour head start.

Cam looked to his team, "Any preferences?"

Buffy saw the shade offered by the terrain on the left, "We'll take the three teams on the left side of the mountain."

Vala spoke up feeling a little more confident, "We can take the groups heading down the centre."

Sam agreed, as she wanted the teams heading along the right path. It was something of small thing. The teams who headed right were all led by Marines. There had always been a healthy competition between the branches of the Military.

All the soldiers had their radios tuned to the same frequency apart from the team Goa'uld. They listened as SG4 announced the Slayers tagged them. Then SG9 also announced they had ended up tagged. The groups following the centre were edgy. The hopes of the centre groups had no such reprieve when SG 2 had a surprise attack. The end result was the same - tagged. The soldiers were expecting attack from any place. They couldn't predict the hollow log, that didn't appear hollow.

As evening fell there were only four teams left. Cameron used their Goa'uld frequency, "Hey I've got two teams banding together. We are on the third hill pass."

Buffy radioed in their status, "We're stalking SG 8. We'll need twenty minutes to deal and reach your position."

Sam gave a status update, "We have SG 3 surrounded we'll need ten we're closer."

As night fell, the slayers came into their own. They converged on the rest of SG1; no one seemed to sense their arrival. Buffy was the one to announce their arrival, "What's the what?"

Faith could not help but snicker at the small jumps she observed in several of their team. "Sorry we'd wear bells but then we'd give ourselves away."

Sam shook her head. It still unnerved her that the slayers could sneak upon them like that. It wasn't a bad thing as it kept them alert. "Xan would be made if you give me a heart-attack."

Buffy chuckled knowing what Sam meant. They had chosen to brief Cam and Vala on their situation during their planning for this. Faith and Buffy could see that SG1 was reforming permanently even if now it were temporary. She knew it would isolate the two new members if they kept secrets. She loved this time of day. She expalined as beast as she could. "Sorry but night has fallen and this is our element. So what's the plan so we can all go home?"

Back at the base, Jack watched two of the teams that the slayers had taken down arrive at the same time. When they logged the time, he realised that Buffy and Faith must have taken one each. He looked at the leader of SG 4 looking bemused.

The leader reported, "Two hours in we were attacked by the blonde slayer."

"4 v 1 were your odds." Jack chose to remind his Major.

"Yes sir. Two were down by the time we got a bead on her position."

Jack could hear something in the leader's voice. He could not help but wonder what stunt his wife pulled, "So then what."

The Major, Daniels, took a deep breath and reported. "Well Sir we realised that she was in the tree. Once we trained our weapons, she decided to freefall taking us out mid-fall. To top it off she landed in a graceful crouch."

Jack knew their pride had taken a battering. It was okay every now and again. Humility would help keep his soldiers alive he hoped. The team had been out after dark. Their training was not hyper focussed on nocturnal battles like the Slayers. Taking a little pity Jack patted him on the shoulder, "Go sit with the others. So you can hear the downfalls of the other teams."

The teams were listening to the enemy radio and all smiled at Faith's comment. One of the braver leaders asked, "Do you think it's possible around the SGC sir."

Jack quirked an eyebrow, "Tell you what James you can get one around either Slayer then sure."

Open laughter at Carter's comment could be heard. The four arrived in mysterious circumstances. All had been a little too cool about the weirdness that was part of SG life. That said though, they made the original SG1 happy and were now considered part of the family.

Jack brought a meal for his family the next week.
