Home is Where the Heart is

Oscar was up, because Draco could hear him slurping his porridge.

Molly had cooked it, he knew that apple and cinnamon combination belonged to her.

Ginny had taken Oscar's spot, using Draco's thighs as a pillow.

He lifted her head, propping a cushion beneath her head so he could get some coffee.

Molly patted his shoulder, telling him everyone else was having a bit of a lie in.

Everyone that is, except Oscar.

"Dad, look at what I made!" Oscar said, thrusting a sheet of paper in his father's line of sight while he waited for the espresso machine to wake up.

Oscar must have gotten this talent from his mother, there was no way Draco could draw that well.

"Very good – is that you? What exactly are you wearing?" There was Oscar parachuting out of a helicopter wearing what Hermione would have called 'camouflage'. "And Is that me driving the helicopter?" Draco also had an arm missing, and blood spurting from it. He grimaced.

"Grandma said I could put it on the fridge," Oscar beamed, waving it around.

"I meant your fridge," Molly hissed stirring the porridge.

Draco made a mental note to remind the twins not to show his son any Muggle movies over the G-rating. Molly returned upstairs to wake Arthur, passing Ron in his Quidditch gear, and something better than a comet-two sixty on his shoulder.

"Morning!" he said, grinned.

Oscar took in Ron's new Nimbus 2000.

"We're relocating to The Mystic Rose, it's good conditions this morning, but we can't use the Granger's garden - for obvious reasons. Lavender's rounding up the others and Oscar can join us on his new broomstick. You coming Charlie?" Ron hollered up the stairs.

Charlie entered, giving them a grin.

"Yeah, Ron. Just woke up the missus to tell her. Shall we, then?" Charlie said, ruffling Oscar's hair.

"I better wake, Ginny," Draco said, telling Oscar to finish his breakfast.

Oscar's fringe was blowing in the breeze, shaking with adrenaline as he watched his uncles chasing each other through the sky. Draco walked up the path, passed the roses - catching himself checking for gnomes, and held onto his Nimbus 2001, and Oscar's toy broomstick, they had bought for his fifth birthday, some months ago.

"Can I fly that high, dad? Look! Uncle Charlie can almost touch the clouds!" Oscar yelled, but Ginny would murder him if he took Oscar that high. After a few lessons beside his father on his toy broom

which let his toes brush along the grass, and went so slow, Oscar complained he would lose to a snail in a race; Draco dismounted and let Oscar ride his, promising they could go only as high as their roof.

A cough startled them, and all four almost fell from the brooms.

Oscar yelled his mother's name in joy, and they played a little game, just for the fun of it until Hermione was shouting lunch was ready. Lavender put her head out of the upstairs window to see what was happening, and Ron was crazy enough to fly passed to kiss her in greeting. Charlie dismounted, leaving his broom by the door.

He picked up Mia, who giggled after he bit into her honey sandwich, she had shown him.

Draco landed near the shed, putting away his broom. "Accio," he called, pointing at Oscar's and Ginny's brooms and smirking because Ginny hadn't quite reached the ground yet.

When lunch was over and they'd said goodbye to Ron, Lavender, Charlie, Hermione and Mia, Ginny put Oscar to bed for his nap, and they sat round the kitchen table with their hands glued to their coffee mugs, reflecting on the day.

Draco sighed, running a hand through his windswept hair.

"You know this was your idea," he told her.

"What was?" she looked surprised, but just as exhausted with bags under her blue eyes.

"Christmas with your family. I feel like I haven't slept in days."

Ginny took a sip of coffee, aware of the peace and quiet.

She put down her coffee, with a sigh, and stood up suddenly.

"Where are you going?" Draco asked. "You haven't finished your drink?"

"I'm going to bed, you coming?"

Draco pushed aside his own drink, and didn't bother spelling the dishes to do themselves, instead he caught Ginny by the waist, and spun her around on the spot. They paused at the end of the hall, so Ginny could check on Oscar. Once she confirmed he was fast asleep, they entered their bedroom where Draco immediately pulled off his shirt and caught sight of Ginny's lustful expression.

"Shall we continue where we left off?" he grinned.

Some months later, Ginny had her hands in the sink, she liked the way the suds ran over her skin, and how relaxing and calming the hot water was, like a hot bath.

She wrapped her sudsy hands around Draco's neck, when he came to assist, enjoying the feel of his fingers over her arms, assessing, appreciating.

She kissed him, smiling and relayed what Oscar had just told her, before he went to play.

"Sweetheart, Oscar thinks it might be a girl. He wants to name her Aurelia Narcissa Malfoy. Your mother will be pleased," Ginny said, as Draco's grey eyes sparkled in delight.

He touched Ginny's baby bump and kissed his wife's cheek.

"I can't wait to meet her," he smiled.
