He walked up to him proudly; one hand clenched tightly around something small, a Gilbird perched on his shoulder. "I've got it!"

The German nation looked up from his book, raising his blond eyebrows up high. "Got what?" He was almost afraid to ask the question, but curiosity won.

"I know how to explain myself! You said I had a 'cocky, snarky, grinning bastard' side and a 'dorky' side right?" He waited for a nod before continuing. "Well I know how to explain how all this adds up to me!"

The younger brother closed his book, giving the older nation his full attention. With Ludwig's eyes on him, he thrust his explanation in the German's face…

It was a Canadian loonie.

This made the taller of the two blink. In fact he blinked about four or five times before looking up at the other. "What are you doing with foreign currency?"

"It's the best way to explain." He stared, proud of himself. "You see, it's like this. The side with the Queen represents my cocky side. Since royals can be cocky." He showed him said side of the shiny coin for emphasis. "The loon," He flipped it around. "Represents my dorky or we'll say 'loony' side." The German's expression was that of total confusion. "Two totally different sides, but still the same coin, right?"

"Yes." He replied, still puzzled by how this explained anything.

"What connects them you ask?" Grinning, he showed the edge of it. "The thickness of course! The edge! It makes the coin a whole! Without it, there would be no coin."

Ludwig supposed that made some amount of sense."And this connects to you how exactly?" He asked, voicing his confusions.

"Simple!" Gilbert grinned as Ludwig shook his head. Only in his mind apparently. "While I may have two different sides to myself, there is something that connects it all. There's an edge that's the same on all sides that makes me who I am. And that…" He paused for effect. "Is my awesomeness!"

Ludwig stayed utterly silent. Motioning with a finger, he brought his brother closer to him. Without warning, he whacked the Prussian behind the head with the book he had been reading. It collided with a sound THUNK. The platinum blond one rubbed the back of his head a little, staring at him with a questioning look. "You're an idiot." He explained. "And you just compared yourself to a coin with a bad exchange rate!

Gilbert fell onto his butt, laughing. Of all the reasons the German could use! Ludwig shook his head. Despite the stupid explanations, it was almost true. There really was no explanation. Gilbert was just Gilbert.

The End
