Falling Inside the Black

It was dark. So dark he couldn't see a thing. He was scared; though he'd never admit it to anyone, not even himself.

He was running in the darkness, tying to find any kind of light. He didn't know how long he'd been running. He didn't even know how far he'd run, there as no way for him to gauge the distance. There'd been no objects, walls or other obstacles for him to tell if anything had changed since he'd woken up in this darkness.

As time had passed, however much time that had been, he'd felt panic rising in the pit of his stomach. Where was everyone? Where was Yuko? Himiwari? Mokona? Kohane? Doumeki? Where was he?

The panic was slowly taking over. Questions were flitting through his head, one right after the other. He started to run faster, wildly hoping that he would find some way out of this place.

"Watanuki…"

He stopped and turned toward the voice. Even in the darkness, he saw clearly. "Doumeki."

The other boy reached out a hand towards him and grabbed his wrist. Watanuki was surprised by how close he was. Had he always been that close?

"Come on. Let's go home."
