Challenges

A friend of mine suggested, after reading my latest fic 'Challenges', which was a group of oneshots, that I should post them separately. I'd like to apologise in advance for spamming you inbox with old fics, for those that have already read these, but I thought it sensible to take her advice. After all, the oneshots I'm writing are very different from each other with random pairings and genres and plots. Anyway, for those reading this for the first time, I hope you enjoy.

Thank you to those who took the time to review. Here's a request from a reader. I'm not too happy with how it turned out, and I found it really hard to write, since I didn't really see a way Luffy could have been defeated by Enel considering Enel's devil fruit power was useless on him. I hope you enjoy it, nonetheless, and thank you for offering a challenging idea. Let's just pretend that all the Strawhats were defeated in their tests long before meeting Enel, hm?

Ignorance

"I'll kill you! Bastard! I swear I'll kill you!"

Luffy's screams went unheard by the 'God' behind the closed door. He half envied his unconscious crewmates, chained close by. Enel's electric attacks didn't work on him though, and his physical attacks were far less damaging on Luffy's rubber body.

"Damn it! Listen to me!"

Once again no response came. Luffy knew what was happening behind those closed doors and it made his blood boil with rage. Blood dribbled lazily down his arms from his chafed wrists. The rusted but sturdy chains keeping him subdued did little for comfort.

"Let her go!"

The straw hat captain panted, dropping to his hands and knees, blinking away his dizziness. Whenever they did feed them, it was the bare minimum to keep them all alive a little longer, until they were no longer fun to the crazed 'God' that held them captive. Luffy swallowed dryly as sweat dripped down his face for the efforts. He struggled back to his feet with a soft grunt.

"Bastard!" he hollered, as he clenched his fists. "I know you can hear me!"

Every few days, Enel would have his fun torturing the crew, electrocuting their battered bodies to unconsciousness before stealing the women away to his room. Luffy may be an idiot at times, but he wasn't completely clueless, and after the first time, his girls behaviour was enough to confirm his suspicions. From then, every time this happened, he would scream himself hoarse. His screams always went ignored.

One day only Robin returned. That day Luffy screamed harder than ever. Still, Nami never came back. Slowly, one by one, his nakama's bodies failed them, and as weeks turned into months, Luffy found himself alone. Starved, exhausted, broken and silent, he was no more fun.

The world was as ignorant of Monkey D. Luffy's fate as Enel had been to his screams. Ignorance is bliss, they say.
