I wasn't really planning on writing a fanfiction for this couple, but I guess after reading over fifty of them it was inevitable. I'm really glad I did; these two are my favorite couple from any books that I've ever read.

Though the title is Hear You Me, it really doesn't have anything to do with the song. The idea just popped into my head when this song came on my iPod last night and suddenly I had to write it, but considering that the ideas would only work right if this song was playing, I figured that I owed it some credit.

Warning: boy/boy couple. :) sorry if you don't like it.

Disclaimer: Sadly, I don't own the characters, just this little mini-story that somehow came from my head. I don't own the song title, either.

Alec was curled up against a tall brick building when Magnus found him. The young shadowhunter had his knees drawn up to his chest, his arms locked around them, and his head rested against them. Alec was shaking, but Magnus wasn't sure if that was from tears, the cold, or both. Pouring rain fell heavily and Alec was soaked through.

Magnus knelt next to him and carefully put a hand on his shoulder. "Alec, love? What's happened?" Alec didn't move or respond, which only worried Magnus more. He carefully regarded his little shadowhunter. He was surprised when, before he could decide what to do, Alec looked up. His eyes were puffy and swollen, pink surrounding the most beautiful blue, but he wasn't crying. Still, his eyes held so much pain that Magnus felt a jolt similar to a painful electric shock stab through his heart. Alec opened his mouth to say something, but instead he just shook his head slightly and dropped it back down to his knees. The boy looked as if he could pass out at any moment. Magnus knew that Alec's safety took priority to details. With a worried sigh he carefully lifted the boy into his arms. Alec was limp and nearly unconscious, but he clung weakly to the warlock and buried his face in his shirt. Magnus hurried back to his apartment, wanting to get Alec out of the cold winter rain as fast as possible.

Once they were inside Magnus used his magic to dry the boy before settling him carefully on the couch. Alec was fast asleep.

Alec woke up warm, dry, and confused. He couldn't remember what had happened, but there was a level of sadness that hadn't left him- even while he slept.

He carefully sat up and opened his eyes. Magnus' apartment? Oh… right. With the memory came an even deeper level of sadness and pain. Alec pulled his knees up to his chest and wrapped his arms tightly around them again; he felt like he could split apart at any moment. Just as before Alec's eyes stung with unshed tears, but he still didn't cry. He was waiting… but for what? He wasn't sure.

"Alec?" Magnus' voice came from behind him, but he didn't turn. Magnus came around the couch to sit opposite him, worry in his eyes. "What's happened?"

Alec stared at him silently for a few moments before he took a deep breath. "My family disowned me."

"Why?"

"The Clave gave them a choice," Alec said carefully, trying to distance himself from the words so that he wouldn't be hurt by them again. "They had to either disown me or they would be turned away from the Clave."

Magnus looked like he was carefully concealing any emotions from crossing his expression. "Do you still have your marks?"

Alec nodded slowly. "Yes, but I'm outside the Clave now. I'm no longer a real shadowhunter. I… I don't have anywhere to go."

Magnus leaned forward until his face was only inches from Alec's. His amber cat eyes stared into Alec's blue ones. "Stay here," he said, before kissing him.

Alec felt a jolt of happiness go through him. Stay here. He could stay. He could live. With Magnus, his life would go on.
