"Maybe they didn't want us to find out about such a dangerous place," Violet said, peering off the ledge, "although if you have to hide a headquarters, it's a beautiful place to do it. Aside from the remains of the fire, this is a very lovely view."

"Very lovely indeed," Quigley said, but he was not looking at the view beneath him. He was looking beside him, where Violet Baudelaire was sitting.

At this point, Lemony Snicket did not go on to tell his weeping, distraught readers what happened between Violet and Quigley, but I will proceed on, a phrase here which means, "I will go on to tell fanfiction readers what I expect happened to them while resting on the ledge".

Violet turned her head and met Quigley's intense gaze. Intense, here, means "something, possibly very deep and dark, in Quigley's eyes which made Violet Baudelaire unable to look away". Violet blushed and tried to look away, but she was unable to tear her eyes from his gaze. "Quigley?" She managed to whisper. She could hear her heart thumping wildly in her chest, and she was terrified--a stronger word for afraid--that Quigley could hear it too.

Quigley smiled and placed his hand on hers. "There's no need to talk." He replied. Violet gulped. Suddenly, she had a strange feeling that she was glad everything had happened the way it did. If it weren't for the fire, she would never meet Quigley, or his other siblings, and so on.

"There's no need to talk" is a phrase which can mean "when there's no words to describe what someone felt for another person, it is best to remain silent." And that is exactly what Quigley Quagmire meant when he said "there's no need to talk."

"But how can you remain silent, when there's so much to say?" Violet asked, echoing Quigley's thoughts. He squeezed her hand and continued to smile.

"I know." Quigley whispered, leaning towards her face. Violet, getting to the point, blushed even more and tried to brake free from him. But before she could move, his lips touched hers. It lasted for only a heartbeat, which means "shorter (or longer, in some cases) than a second", but Violet suddenly felt dizzy and when they finally broke off, she gasped.

"I really like you." Quigley whispered more louder, though he looked slightly embarrassed from the kiss.

"I like you too." Violet said, and they looked away. Klaus was a tiny dot below, and Violet suddenly wondered what he was doing.

After another pause, she said, "Let's keep going." Quigley agreed with a nod, and as they continued their climb, exchanged small smiles.

Klaus found a message that had not been there before in Quigley's commonplace book. There, scribbled down, were the initials "V.Q." He frowned, deep in thought. Quigley had never mentioned a "V.Q.", and he was completely dumbfounded, a phrase here which means "had no idea what the initials 'V.Q.' means and is puzzled by it." I'll ask them later, he decided as he got back to work.

"Did you see Sunny? Where is she?" Klaus asked eagerly as Violet and Quigley hurried across the ground towards him. Violet and Quigley... "V.Q.!" He realized with a jolt. Quigley liked his sister! He blinked a couple of times and rubbed his glasses. He did not see how someone could like someone else after they just met. At least, Violet had met Duncan and Isadora, but not Quigley. Then he remembered a saying that went: "Love at first sight." Could this be? He wondered, watching his elder sister and the triplet.

A/N: I rewrote it! Yay! I don't think I sound a lot like Lemony Snicket, but oh well. Hope you like it more now!
