Why

A/N: A little thought. This takes place after Kaname tells the Night Class that they are together. It doesn't make much sense unless you've read my 'Passion' series. This fits in the timeline.

Disclaimer: I do not own Vampire Knight.

Summary: Ruka and Aido determine if Zero is a good match for Kaname. They didn't know the half of it. KanameXZero implied. No lemon in this one, sorry.

"Hey Kiriyu!"

Zero turned, seeing both Ruka and Aido stride up to him. He didn't speak, but didn't need to.

"Where is Kaname-sama?" Ruka asked, politely, although there was a twinge of jealousy behind it.

"Doing paperwork," he replied flatly. Kaname had neglected it for so long, it piled all over his desk. He was on his way to the kitchen to get himself a glass of water, as he knew that the pureblood wouldn't be moving any time soon.

"You should be with him!" Aido cried, as if he couldn't believe what Zero was telling him. "You should always be with Kaname-sama! You make him happy, I've seen it! Why are you here lounging around when Kaname-sama might want you to be with him?!"

"Well--"

"Exactly! Kaname-sama likes it when you are close to him! He told us that you are his mate, after all," Ruka said sharply, cutting Zero off. The hunter didn't feel insulted, only because the subject they were talking about was Kaname. "We respect you only because he does! If you make Kaname-sama happy, then we will protect you."

"That's--"

Aido cut him off, "Kiriyu, you know that you would have no standing in our society if it weren't for Kaname-sama. You are only a level D; we don't have to respect you at all! It's only because of Kaname-sama that we even listen to you."

Zero was just about to point out that Aido wasn't doing that great of a job of 'listening' as they keep cutting him off, before he was interrupted again by Ruka.

"So what are you standing here for?!" She cried, "Go to him."

Zero sighed and ran one hand through his hair. He looked straight in both nobles' eyes and quite seriously said:

"If I did that, Kaname will never get his paperwork done."

A/N: Read and Review! Something short I decided to put down.
