Godai finally arrived at the office 2 hours later, and after paying the cab driver, lugged his bags up the stairs. He wasn't gonna waste any time. He was gonna drop off the diamond and leave. He didn't wanna stick around for the Guardian to show up and possibly take out its ire on him even if he didn't have the diamond in his possession.

"Damn blue bastard better be happy…I almost got my head tore off…" Finally reaching the top of the stairs that lead to the office door, he sighed, mentally and physically preparing himself for what may be in store for him. The damn monster got his rocks off of throwing shit at them when they first come through the door and he was too tired to even allow him that pleasure. He opened the door and went inside.

"Oi, I'm back and I got your stupid…diamond? Uh….What the hell is going on here?"

He wasn't sure what he walked in on.

There was the monster, sitting on the couch. Nothing unusual about that. But what was unusual, was that in his arms, was Yako, unconscious. Now, her being unconscious wasn't something that abnormal either. The strangest of it all was that the monster was clearly, and there was no mistaking it, holding her tenderly in his arms, while he was in the midst of running his hand through her hair. And…..Was that a SMILE on his face?! Yeah, this was clearly the Twilight Zone. Either that or he was dreaming because there was no way that this was happening in real life….Until he felt the undeniable pain of the cube shaped paperweight hit him in the head. Yeah, he remembers those sharp corners VERY well. He was awake, and that meant that everything he saw just now was real.

"OW! FUCK! You damn monster that fucking hurt!"

"Cease your noisemaking slave, my partner is asleep and if you awaken her I will peel off your eyelashes one by one with a hot poker."

"What the hell, how would that even wor-" He immediately shut up upon seeing the hot poker that was glowing red in his hand. How it got there he didn't know and he really didn't want to find out.

"Point taken."

"Good. You're learning well, slave. Now, I trust you brought back what I asked for?"

"Yeah yeah, otherwise I wouldn't have even come back." He rifled through his pocket and brought out the diamond and sat it on Troy, that creepy ass desk of his.

"A wise decision, I feel that my training program is very successful."

All Godai could do was grumble to himself. The damn monster was still holding the hot poker.

Neuro, deciding that he had scared his slave enough for now, got rid of the hot poker and instead, turned his eye toward the diamond that now sat on his desk. It contained what he needed to stay in this world as long as he wanted.

Godai only watched awkwardly as Neuro stared at the diamond that he'd gone through so much trouble to obtain. The damn monster still had Yako in his arms, which reminded him of what he said just a minute ago…

"Oi, what did you mean by Yako being your partner? You give her one of your crazy, "promotions?"

Neuro looked at him, and instead of grinning with those freaky pointy teeth of his and flinging something at him, he gave a small smile instead. He actually looked, at peace.

"You could say that. She is now my woman, which makes her my equal and partner. Congratulations, you've been promoted to Slave number 1."

"….Wait, she's your WOMAN? What the hell?! Are you a pedophile or something she's 17-"

"Lower your voice. And of course not. I'm 20 years old. She will be 18 soon. She is old enough to consent according to the laws of this country. Do not confuse me with some of the sick humans who cannot control their baser instincts to such a point that they desire children. Its disgusting."

"Hey, I just want to keep her safe. Especially after that fucking Aya Asia bullshit. Crazy ass stalkers and what not. You may be an asshole, but at the very least, I can admit that you're crazy and strong enough to make sure she's safe. You inflict fear into me daily so I know that you won't have any problem doing the same to anyone else who puts their fucking toes out of line. I didn't like you guys at first, and you I still don't like, but I won't let anything happen to her. Period. So for her, I will tolerate you. Just don't do any mushy shit around me."

Neuro's face split into his familiar grin, and he didn't know whether he felt proud of his declaration, or if he was about to toss him out of the window.

"You have impressed me, Godai. You've expressed intelligence that I doubted you had. I was right in choosing you to be a part of this business. I know you will do right by my partner."

Godai nodded, honestly surprised at the answer he received. Until he found himself dangling out of the window, his ankle in the monster's grasp as his face was blank with his face split with that infuriating grin.

"DAMMIT YOU SON OF A BITCH! I KNEW YOU WOULD PULL SOMETHING LIKE THIS!"

" Always be prepared for retaliation slave, you're setting a poor example for my partner."

"I'M GONNA KILL YOU!"

Godai could do nothing but flail around, thankful for the monster's steel grip on his ankle. And as he flailed, he caught a large flash of red, heading straight for him. He looked, and saw what he feared, the Guardian was making a beeline toward his dangling form and getting closer and closer every second.

"FUCK! PULL ME UP! PULL ME UP!"

Just when Godai thought that the Guardian was gonna snatch him right out of the air, he was yanked back into the office window, the Guardian right after him, landing calmly on the floor as Godai hyperventilated, still hanging upside down in Neuro's grasp.

"F-Fucking asshole…"

Neuro dropped Godai onto the floor, never taking his eyes off of the Guardian, who was now taking human form in the middle of the office, revealing long red hair and ruby eyes, tan skin and pointed ears.

"…..I figured that he was working for you. You always seem to find minions to do your bidding rather quickly, Nougami Neuro."

Neuro only grinned back at him, not intimidated in the slightest.

"You've become so stoic, Grigori. Is that any way to talk to your cousin after such a long time?" The grin on his face just got wider as the Guardian, now identified as Grigori seemed to grow frustrated with Neuro's light attitude.

"Neuro, you had your lackey steal the Elixir of Souls. You knew I would follow him here. What is your plan?"

"I want to use it to restore and keep my demonic power at its peak level."

"You know that is an offense-"

"Unless it is used to keep one alive in the human world."

Grigori looked at him with an expression that bordered on suspicion, and disbelief. He was all too familiar with Neuro's games, and would not be swayed unless he had proof.

'Although, Neuro is not one to go to this much trouble if it wasn't as serious as he says….'

"What do you mean, Neuro?"

Neuro was all business now, the atmosphere had changed from something playful to something dead serious.

"I am slowly dying, Grigori. I brought my organs with me when I came to the human world. I am slowly turning human."

"Why not go back to hell then? Restore your power?"

"Because I didn't land here on purpose. It was by chance. If I were to do that, there's no telling what I'd come back to. I'd need a proper portal to transport back and forth to hell, and I don't have enough power to do that."

Grigori thought about this and nodded. He knew that Neuro tearing his way into the human world was risky and only done out of his need to find food. But there was still something he wasn't telling him.

"Neuro, why do you want to stay here?"

Neuro could only look at Yako out of the corner of his eye, and Grigori knew exactly what compelled him to take such big risks.

"I see. Very well then. You may use the Elixir of Souls. However, you must return it to me when you are done. I do have a job to do after all. You're lucky I didn't kill your lackey-"

"Its Godai."

"Once again, lackey, for taking it. He is quite good though. You picked well. He was able to outrun me, and even avoided me in two countries for over two days. No one has ever even escaped the altar before he came along."

"I only pick the best to be my slaves."

Godai looked over at Neuro in outrage. "Oi!"

Grigori looked up at Neuro. "There's something else you should know. There is another demon here in this city."

Neuro's eyes narrowed. If there was one thing demons were known for, it was their possessiveness. Especially when it came to territory. This is a danger to Yako. Fights over territories can be devastating, and demons are not above attacking another's mate to gain the upper hand. This has to be remedied.

"Where did you last sense it?"

"There was a trail that led to two stores, but the source of it is located in a medium sized building with two floors. It looks to be a studio of some kind since it has a large open space on the first floor. It has the initials TTD on the sign."

It was then that Yako awoke, rubbing her eyes and covering her mouth as she yawned. "Neuro? What's going on?"

"Yako, you know the area, what building has the initials, TTD on them?"

Yako, now mostly awake, perked up at the familiar initials. "Oh! That's where I attend my dance classes! In fact…" Yako dug around in her pockets, searching for her phone until she found it in her hoodie pocket and checked her text messages. "My teacher Alexis owns the place and…..Oh…Neuro we've got a case. She says that some intruder that looked like a monster broke into her studio last night. Claws, and fangs and what she calls, "Pinwheel eyes". She also said that he looked like a man, so….He kinda reminds me of…"

Neuro knew where she was going with this. "He reminds you of me. A demon in human form. Though not really disguised."

Grigori sat down on the floor, getting comfortable. "There wasn't residual power there, whoever it was purposely left their power there, like he was warding off other demons."

Yako, finally noticing the new person in the room, looked at him with interest.

Neuro, noticing her interest decided to introduce them. "Yako, this is Grigori, another demon. He is my cousin. Grigori, this is Katsuragi Yako, my intended."

"It is very nice to meet you, Yako."

Yako immediately stands up and dusts herself off and bows. "Its very nice to meet, Grigori-san."

"Please, just Grigori. Its nice to meet you too, Ms. Katsuragi. I must say I'm impressed that you've managed to make my cousin submit enough that he has actually acquired a life partner."

Neuro was currently grinning, while prodding at Godai with the formerly forgotten poker, clearly taking his anger from his cousin's words out on him.

"FUCK man cut it out what did I do?!"

"Always be prepared for retaliation, slave."

Yako texted Alexis back, telling her that she would be there. "Neuro, I'll be going there at 3:30 pm. Its 2pm right now. What should we do to prepare?"

"You will not be going."

"What? Why?"

"Because there is another demon in the picture now. He has clearly made his statement that he will be here to stay. Two demons in the same territory is far from a good situation. Opposing demons will even resort to taking each other's mates as ransom. The gloves are off."

"Neuro, she hired us. Which means she's paying us, which also means that we have to go anyway because if this demon ends up killing her it will be a murder investigation we will be expected to solve. I don't know why he backed off the first time but that's not a risk we should take."

Grigori's eyes were wide with shock as a grin slowly appeared on his face. He could see why Neuro chose her. She was good. Really good. Even Neuro can't argue with that logic, and as he saw Neuro's face slump slightly into a frown, he knew that Ms. Katsuragi had won the argument.

Alexis walked down the aisles of the grocery store, easily pushing three carts full of food, whistling a merry tune as other shoppers watched in shock an horror. It's been a very eventful shopping trip. She nearly cleaned out half of the junk food aisle, she was positive that there was only one more frozen pizza left in the freezer section, and lets not get into the fist fight she had over the last bag of rice.

'Shit, you snooze you fucking lose. There is no honor amongst stomachs.'

She knew it was a bit insensitive, but to be fair, she HAD been completely out of food. So the way she saw it, she was justified in punching that 40 year old lady who had the nerve to try and hit her with a damn melon. The bitch was lucky she didn't stick her foot up her ass. A

After checking out and waiting outside for someone to help deliver her groceries to the studio just two blocks away, she decided to think a bit about what the the night would bring.

'I wonder if he'll come back. I mean, he's obviously not a normal criminal. He was terrifying though. I'm just confused as to why he didn't take anything or even hurt me.'

Trapped in her musings, she nearly missed a flash of black in her peripheral vision, and turned to find a black dog.

"Awwww! Look how cute you are!" She extended her hand carefully, to allow the dog to sniff it.

The dog, did so, sniffing her hand in earnest as his wet nose brushed against her palm, and after he was done, proceeded to lick her wrist and snuggle her hand, like he was begging her to pet him and give him love.

Alexis had no choice but to comply. She went to her knees and began rubbing his fur and scratching behind his ears, and he immediately began to lick her face and snuggle her like she was already family.

"Oh you're such a cutie!"

Unfortunately the fun had to end as the delivery guy came out, ready help deliver the groceries. Alexis immediately ran to her cart, and dug through her groceries to pull out one of the pork tenderloins that she bought. She opened it and graciously offered it to the dog, which he immediately took and began snacking on.

"I have to go, but I hope I'll see you again. Enjoy your snack!" She turned to the delivery guy and they made their way back to her studio, not realizing that they had a stalker with four paws and a happily wagging tail.

Later on, as she was taking out the extra blankets, she heard scratching at her window and went to investigate. To utter surprise, there was the black dog on her second floor window ledge, scratching at the window.

"Oh my goodness! How did you get up there?!" She immediately ran to the window and opened it, carefully pulling him inside and setting him on the floor.

"Oh you cutie, you could've been hurt. Stay right there I'm gonna get you some water, and I don't wanna let you out. You might end up on my roof next time." She left and was soon back with a large bowl of water for him, which he gladly lapped up.

"Looks like Yako and I are gonna have some extra company. Speaking of which…..Oh fuck. I forgot about her assistant! Well, at least there's more than enough bedding and futons. He's gonna have to sleep on the air mattress. I don't mind Yako sharing a bed with me but him, no…."

Unbeknownst to her, the dog was listening to everything she was saying, and as he was listening, someone else was listening as well, and he wasn't happy.

Malakai couldn't believe his ears. There would be a guy sleeping near his beloved? No.

No.

NO.

Hell no.

FUCK no.

There was no way that some man was gonna be sleeping in the same room as his beloved unless it was her brother, and he hasn't seen any evidence of her having siblings, let alone a brother. It wasn't gonna happen. No way, no how. He would be there, when this Yako person would come with her assistant. He didn't know why they were gonna be there and why they were sleeping over, but he would NOT allow a many to sleep anywhere near his beloved.

It was a good thing that the familiar hatched ahead of schedule, and that he was able to sent it to the human world to do its duty. And he couldn't have thought that he could fall even deeper in love with his future mate, but he was sure that he has. The way that she treated the familiar upon first meeting him, was better than he could have ever expected it. She gave him affection and food when it seemed that he had none, and even brought him into her room when she believed he was in danger. Perhaps he should have told his familiar to approach her door instead of flying up to her window. But it still got the results he wanted. Even better. Her fear of him repeating his actions and getting hurt prompted her to keep him inside and even give him water. She even allowed him to stay the night. The idea for a familiar was an incredible success. He got the information he needed and he kept her safe.

He was packing a bag, he would be gone for a few days and would come back if he need to get more clothing. As he was finishing up he heard knocking on the door, and he knew who it was before they announced themselves. Three knocks and the smell of lavender and blood. Bera hasn't ventured out of her room in quite a while, this must be quite the occasion.

"You can come in, Bera."

She came in, carrying a book, a cloak, and a broom. Three items that a witch should never be without.

"Bera, what are you up to."

She smiled, knowing that she couldn't slip anything passed him. "I want you, to give these, to her."

"Why?"

"Because as much as you want to deny it, you also have the same potential to be a Witch, and if you do, then so does she, through her connection with you."

"Are there any unseen consequences to being a Witch?"

"Honestly, no. The only reason that its so feared is because it bends the laws of the realms its used in. Like in the human world. It was seen as evil a century ago, now there is a culture called Wicca. Demons fear it because it doesn't abide by hell's laws. And you fear what you don't understand, no matter what race you are."

She was right, and who knows, maybe his beloved could become a witch. But that would be her decision and her decision alone.

"However, there are some consequences to her NOT becoming a witch if she has as much power as you do."

That worried him.

"What do you mean?"

"If she has magic, she will start exhibiting signs of it, such as Foreshadowing."

"Foreshadowing?"

She nodded and her face became serious. She always said that magic was a serious business.

"Foreshadowing is an ability that presents itself in some potential witches who have yet to open a Book of Beginning, which gives them full access to their dormant magic. They are known in the human world as Psychics. This is their magic trying to express itself in the best way that it can while still being dormant. However, the consequences of this ability can be devastating. It also allows them to see into the spirit world, and that can be dangerous because that magic invites spirits, good or otherwise, and even demons. Some lower demons would love to possess a potential witch because they would have access to her power. They can't use it as much as they want to but it gives them the protection they need from other demons. They can even feed off of that magic and become stronger, then leave body, leaving a sickness that can eventually kill them. I'm giving you another Boon of Life, to give to her, so that if she decides to become a witch, she can have a familiar. A familiar will protect her from these outside forces. Its why Boons of Life are so valuable."

She puts the book, the cloak and the Boon of Life into the bag she brought, and ties the broom to the provided strap on the side of it. She wasn't kidding around, she cared as much as he did, and that's what was important.

"Thank you Bera. You have nothing to fear, I will talk to her about it when I get there."

She nodded, sure that her work was done, and hugged him, wishing him a safe trip and left to go back to her room. He would take her words seriously. There wasn't much that she worried about, but when she felt troubled by something, he knew that the threat was real and should be taken care of quickly and carefully. As he sat on his bed to think things over more thoroughly, he was notified by his familiar, that this Yako person had arrived in the time that he had been packing. He stood, grabbing his and the bag Bera had prepared for his beloved, and waved his hand, opening the portal that would take him from hell into the human world where his beloved resided. As he stepped into the portal, the only thing that was going through his mind was this:

"This time, I'm going to make things right."

Higuchi Yuuya stood at the entrance of the Detective Agency, and was quite disappointed.

No one was there.

Not Yako, not her assistant, not even that Godai guy.

Nothing.

Damn. He'd come there to convince Yako to go on a walk with him so that they could discuss some, "extra cases." But unfortunately, she wasn't there. He should really come around more so that he could memorize her routine. Or at least join them on cases whenever one popped up. He'd stopped by the studio to see if she'd been there, but she hadn't. In fact, the studio had been closed until further notice. He guessed he could go inside and take a peek. Its not often he gets to come here and be where she spends most of her time after school hours are done. He walked inside, it was easy to jimmy the lock, and looked around. The room was pretty plain, there seemed to be nothing special about it. That was of course, until he came upon Yako's desk. He smiled, seeing the little bits of crumbs embedded into the tight corners and cracks in the old desk. This was no doubt where she ate as well as worked.

'She loves food as much as I love technology.'

He gently ran his fingers over the surface of the desk and the chair, and he could imagine her sitting there, hunched over, working hard because that's what she did. She worked until someone was saved or someone got what they deserved and was put in jail. He couldn't wait to have her. He needed her….

His thoughts were starting to become impure now he could feel his pants getting tight. And he needed to leave. He couldn't be caught in here, not like this. He took a napkin and wiped down the desk and chair, then proceeded to wipe down both sides of the doorknob and locked it after him. He couldn't let anyone know that he was there.

Unfortunately for him, someone would know he was there. All because he didn't know about Detective Agency's secretary partially hidden in the wall paper, watching his every move.

Yako knocked on the door of the studio after going home and getting her clothing ready and things ready for the night. She even brought movies! Even though it was an active case that didn't mean that they couldn't have fun.

"Alexis-san! We're here!"

Immediately after she was through with that statement, she saw a black dog run up to the door, tail wagging and barking loudly. The next thing she saw was Alexis running after him and shooing him away. Once she thought he was sufficiently under control, she opened the door to let Yako in.

"Sorry Yako! Semry gets excited when visitors come."

"You got a dog?"

"More like he got me. I met him at the grocery store earlier today and he followed me here. I didn't realize he did until he appeared on my second floor window pawing at the glass."

Yako was taken aback. The fact that Semry had gotten up to the second floor window without getting hurt was pretty incredible and weird.

"I was so scared that if I put him out, he'd end up on the roof next, so I kept him in with me. I hope its okay that he's here."

"Its fine with me. I love dogs."

Alexis looked around, expecting to see her assistant in the blue suit, but he was nowhere to be found.

"Yako, where's your assistant? I thought he was coming?

"He's here. He's just walking the premises to make sure this creepy guy isn't in hiding somewhere outside waiting to break in."

"Oh thank God. Well I'll let him in when he's done."

"There's no need for that."

Alexis jumped, startled as she turned around to see Neuro behind her, smiling with that overly happy smile on his face. "H-How did…..Nevermind, lets just go inside and lock up everywhere. Its getting dark. As they went inside, Neuro couldn't help but notice the demonic presence of the dog, "Semry" that happily followed Alexis. He knew that this had to be the familiar of the demon who had come here. The energy it was putting off felt familiar, and as he went further into the studio, he could clearly feel the power that was used to ward off other demons. It didn't intimidate him in the least, but he knew that in his peak, he and this other demon were clearly equally matched. If only he could know who it was.

That time was closer than they thought.

As they stepped into the bedroom to make themselves comfortable, they saw the intruder they had been waiting to face. And both demons could not believe who they were seeing.

"Nougami Neuro."

"Malakai Aloin."

Alexis forced her out of her terror at the same time that Yako realized what had actually happen, and they had the same response.

"You two know each other?!"

Malakai looked at his beloved and the woman Yako as they shouted out the obvious.

"Yes, we know each other. He's an old friend of mine."

Neuro looked over Malakai, he'd obviously grown well and he'd become strong. As he expected he would be. He wouldn't admit it, but over time, he'd actually grown to miss his friend….Miss defeating him of course.

"Malakai Aloin, its been a very long time. I thought it would be above you to break into women's rooms at night, but I guess dogs will be dogs." He finished with a grin splitting his face.

Malakai grinned as well, rising to the challenge to jab at his oldest friend. "Indeed, it has been a long time. I see you have yet to grow an ass to sit on. And is that a woman I see in your company? Very rare to see a female in the company of my favorite birdbrain."

Neuro grinned even more, his pinwheel green eyes glowing in excitement. This would definitely shut him up.

"She is my intended."

Malakai's jaw dropped, but then he quickly hid it, and grinned even more.

"What a coincidence. That woman next to your intended, is my beloved. She bares my mark." He then proceeded to lift his shirt to show the black paw print mark on his hip.

Alexis was stunned. She could feel the tingling that she had the night before, and she unknowingly rubbed the spot where she knew her mark to be.

Malakai then realized something and began to dig into the suitcase he brought with him, and pulled out a newspaper and showed Neuro the headline.

"Well what do you know, Neuro, I guess you can see the future."

As Neuro read the headline, he could only think back to the day when he told Malakai as children, that he would only find a mate if a certain event happened. If there was ever a time he wanted to kick himself, that time would be now.

The headline was as read:

"King of Hell shits himself during important speech at the Demon Embassy!"
