His breath came in ragged gasps as he ran through the darkened hallways.
Thoughts flashed through his mind, images burning themselves into his eyes.
He couldn't push them away, he couldn't forget them.
They were slowly entering every portion of his brain, every nook and cranny of his mind.
He couldn't push them away, he couldn't forget them.
She had said it had been like falling in love for the first time.
She had said that it was terrifying, but she was doing it.
She was letting him in.
In where no man had gone before, after she had been hurt.
She had said so, so, so many things.
He had thought he had it made.
He had thought they were beautiful.
He ran, faster and faster, until he collided with a pillar.
He sank to the ground, coughing, hands over his eyes, sweat pouring down his lean body.
The night steadily grew darker, the moon started to shine silvery light on the boy collapsed against the stone.
He laughed to himself, a bitter, mirthless laugh.
It was so easy to be broken.
It was so easy to be hurt.
He had loved her.
No, he still loved her.
He loved everything about her, her fiery temper, her emerald green eyes so at odds with that burning hair.
He loved how she would tell him off then lean in for him to comfort her.
How she would look at him, those eyes filled with nothing, nothing but happiness and...love.
And then, to walk in on that, to see her, slowly moving closer, closer to a figure immersed in shadows, until one of her pale white hands reached up to touch his cheek.
To see that hand, that familiar hand, browned by being out in the sun too much, a ring with his initials on it glittering as the light caught it.
His head leaning down, hers reaching up, until their mouths collided, the ring with the initials 'JP' sinking under her red hair.
The tortured noise he had made that neither of them heard.
So he lay there, against the cold, cold stone, with nothing but moonlight to illuminate the darkened way he had before him.
He loved her.
He loved him too.
He couldn't stop the first of the tears that rolled down his cheeks...but he stopped the rest of them.
He had to hide it, he knew.
He had to be strong.
In times like those that he knew were coming, he had to be strong.
To protect her and to protect him.
Slowly, he rose to his feet, brushing the dust off of his clothes.
For a moment, he raised his face to the moon, the silvery orb reflecting in his gray eyes.
One hand reached up, as if for support, on the pillar of stone.
Then he stiffened.
Hardened his heart.
Ironed his resolve.
And he walked back.
Back to that scene, forever burned into his memory.
Back to her and him.
Because he was strong.
He was strong.

My goodness, so many Lily/Sirius fics, eh? And none of them are ever happy endings...*sigh* Well, what can you do? I like to stick with the storyline of the books...woah, anyone see the 6th movie??? Gosh, I was like, wtf when the Burrow was burning. I don't quite remember that happening in the books, and I reread them every weekend. Am I wrong or something? -.- Hmmm, I guess you can see I'm somewhat po'd about the movie...but eh, it's Hollywood, right?
